Toca vs. F1

Well watched 30 mins of F1 over the weekend and once again couldn't shake the feeling of sleepy and boring driving, then saw that Toca was on and recorded it, just watched about 45 minutes and loved every minute, actual racing, contact, and watching them squeeze into gaps that aren't really there to get past :)

What's all the talk of F1 being made more exciting ?

Boyfriends a massive F1 fan but even he gets bored watching it at the minute.
F1 needs to work out whether it's about developing new car technology or entertainment, at the minute it seems like the first option.

imho it stopped being exciting when they made all teh cars saer to stop people dying (senna?) TOCA is cool, as is nascar when i can find it (no sky = never!) MotoGP rox too. They are 3 sportes that sucessfuly balanced danger and excitement, why can't F1?

That said, I heard over the grapevine oe of the teams is planning a particualry exciting refuleing strategy for the next race. That'll be fun won't it?

Formula 1 stopped being exciting when they allwed cars to refuel mid race. Suddenly peopel didn't race each other anymore, track positions were decided by pitstop strategies rather than by skill and daring in corners. FIA have spent the last few years trying to reintroduce actual racing to F1 - grooved tyres, only one engine per race, no tyre changes etc but they seem to be blind to the fact that if cars can only come in when they are broken, racing will happen on the track rather than in the pits where fans can't see it.

I'd never actually thought of it like that Requiel but you're spot on. In the first Toca race I saw one car go into the pits, and that was cos someone had nudged him hard enough his passenger door had sprung open and he got pulled in for them to fix (gaffa tape) it :)

Moto GP is good to watch but they can't really do the contact they do in Toca, and having had a bike accident myself I guess I'm a little squeemish when I do see em tank it :/
