Vikings (History Channel)

Cullhaven

Hernes Son
Anyone else watching this? Its not that historically accurate but having watched the first four episodes I quite like it. Its gritty, thankfully no horns on helmets which is a pet peeve of mine. As everything there are absurdities - The Vikings not knowing about the existence of "England" (There was no such political entity at the time) until the Lindisfarne Raid - and some of the more extreme Punk/Tankgirl haircuts, but all in all quite a decent watch. Biggest drawback for me is gabriel Byrne - never liked him as an actor and he is pretty awful in this. He seems a bit puny and weasely for a Norse Jarl.

yup watching it. Was kind of 'meh' the first couple of episodes but it seems to be getting better. Viewing it as a drama rather than based on pure historical evidence.

Cullhaven

Hernes Son
Up onto the overturned keel
Clamber, with a heart of steel!
Cold is the ocean's spray
And your death is on its way
With maidens you have had your way
Each must die some day!

Makes me want to attack some monks with an axe!

Torrented the first 3, as I can watch the next 3 on the History channel player :)

Watched episode 1, looks promising.
