Im considering dusting off the 2,500+ points of Dark Angels i have in the garage, finishing them off and getting back into 6th ed

Is it worth it? Rule set better? Dark Vengeance worth buying or skip it get the DA Codex and a couple of the new sets? (I dont need the DA figures but no longer have a 2nd army to use)

New rules are different but apparently more balanced. This is coming from my g/f who works at GW so might be slightly biased towards GW. ^^

Hull points on tanks now, so you can actually kill monoliths and land raiders.
Call-out challenges between characters for extra funs.
Allocation of wounds is better now, generally you go from front to back instead of distributing it around and being a pain in the arse.
Flyers are in again, proper flyers that is.
Assault phase is a bit improved too. Charge distance is a bit more random now, so you don't get into the arguments about pre-measuring (which is now all ok), but charges can fail.

This is from the gf, I haven't had chance to play it yet.

DV is only worth getting if you want to add to your army, you get the mini-rule book as well.

I play it a fair bit. Rules are more streamlined and faster. Balance is relative. Currently flyers are crazy awesome because most older armies don't yet have the tools to deal with them. Vehicle rules are tightened up, rhino/razorback rush armies are hurting hard as a result. Tanks die fast now and there's actually a good reason to take an infantry force or at the least to get the squads out of their transports.

The DA miniatures in Dark Vengeance are very nice, if a bit static. It's probably worth getting the box just for the rulebook tbh so you are effectively getting the DA stuff for 16 quid minus whatever you manage to ebay/barter the Chaos stuff for.

I like the rules a lot, they are much tighter than previously and cut out a lot of the wound allocation and mech dominance nonsense from 4th and 5th.

i thinking get DV, for the book mostly, but looking at my current Space marines i could probably do with the models :) Add more bikes, add a deathwing knights and terminator HQ squad. And then build up a 2500 point Chaos Marine army and leave it at that.

:)

Or something like that. it allows me to teach my eldest in a year or twos time and give him a couple of options to slaughter his mates with then they all start playing

been considering getting back into 40k - but tbh, warmahordes is still occupying all of my available gaming energies.

i've had 2 games and liked it, but warmahordes is just such a better game by far and i'm playing that none stop now!

Been enjoying Warhammer 6th edition but have been fancing a change from the Sci-Fi and Fantasy settings and models.

I've been watching a new game called Wild West Exodus on Kickstarter and been thinking of taking the plunge with it. It's a bit Weird West mixed up with some steampunk i've downloaded the ruleset from their website but haven't had much time to read it yet.
