What do I need then?

Right then, decided it was about time I went and got myself a copy of this when I get paid at the end of the month so thats simple enough to accomplish, with it being blizzard I am assuming that there is no monthly fee for the servers either.

What I do need to know is where to go for games as I have not played with you lot for what must be years :(

Also I have noticed that there are a couple of add ons for this, do I need them?

Try Gameplay for buying it. They're pretty good.

It might be Blizzard but it's a standard MMORPG so there's a monthly fee which works out around 9 or 10.

The only "add ons" are mods which tend to make the game easier and/or more enjoyable. You don't need them though.

regarding which server you play one - theres various threads on the subject. but basically, terenas for pve, or Ravencrest for horde pvp.
addons... not really any needed. best to get used to the normal game first.

I would suggest starting on a pve server if your new to MMG games. Get used to the game and how its played then decide if you want to carry on vs mobs and pvp in battlegrounds and raids or go pure pvp.

Without wanting to start yet another pvp vs pve arguement (though I'm sure it will \o/),
1) PvP servers aren't pure PvP, there's the same PvE content, it's just that there's more to do when you're not in the mood for PvE ;)
2) Unless you're a hardcore power-gamer, I doubt you're going to reroll at lvl 50-60 when (alright, *if* :p) you get bored of PvE.

However, most CUKers are on Terenas, so I'd recommend there if it's mostly to catch up on old friends. :)

ignore that hairy piss stained layabout
the best pvp in the game is the BG's which are available on all servers

pvp server = random ganking by people that smoke spitty little roll ups while your trying to do a quest

Not a big fan of battlegrounds, tbh. AV is certainly worth a go, if only to have a wander about and explore. However, the PvP invariably ends up being a zerg on the alliance bridge. Slightly more interesting than hillsbrad, but it's still a zerg. :p

WSG's slightly better since it's restricted to small groups, but it's still a bit too... rigid? I think this is rather apt. :p

Saying that, I've just finished my disgustingly twinked lvl 30 shaman for low lvl WSG, and it's good fun. Well, winning always makes things seem more fun. ;)

My favourite spot is still Tyr's hand. Good cash/lewts to be had, and there's usually a big rumble several times an hour, which are usually pretty balanced.

Hey, it takes skill to ubar-twink a lvl 30 char, grind all their skills up to max, and steam-roller a bunch of poor alliance noobs who've just popped their head in WSG to see what it's like. Honest.

is this a game where there are US servers and UK servers and you have to buy the correct version or you're on the wrong ones?
