PM'd Taja with the same question only yesterday ;)

Was on last night playing around more with the housing elements, really cool! For those that dont know about it, you can buy a house and either buy from the AH, rely on drops / purchase from an Architect (tradeskill) or get from challenge rewards items to decorate it. Depending on what and how much you decorate the house with, increases your rested XP bonus.

There are also 6 areas on your land you can place other FABKits; 4 - 1x1 and 2 - 1x2 sized plots. These can be used as (two max) gathering areas: a garden so you can plant your own seeds which you get from gathering plants in the world and grow your own choise of plants, Mining plots where minerals 'grow' that you can mine, as well as a Thicket(?) which you can gather wood from, theres also a Relic plot which works the same way... Every plot can be upgraded at certain levels so the recources they grow match the level areas you are travelling around.

Other plots can be used for things like a rock formation to practice jumping skills on which also have challenges built into them with rewards (Dyes, Decoration items, trade materials, etc), Spooky graveyards, a Moonshine cabin, BBQ pit, decorative 'biodomes' reflecting areas of the world, . You can place crafting areas so you dont have to visit town and craft on your land... loads of things!

You get your housing plot at 15th (same level as your mount) but it takes some cash to get stuff on there, unless you run around the world repeating challenges ;)

Another thing is that once you build something on a plot, if you want to place something over that plot in the future you lose the ability to build it until you get the item again - so you dont make my mistake and put your gathering plots on the oposite side of the land from the entrance!

You can also set up 'Neighbours' who are allowed to visit your place and look around you house - or you can make it a public house so anyone can visit as you can visit any other public house. You add a neighbour whilst on your land through the social window. These can be set so if they mine a plot for you, they get a cut of the mats they gather which you set (default is 0%).

Anyway, just a quick intro / overview of my first impressions of WS Housing which so far is pretty well set up :)

So, are many people still playing this?

Tempted to buy it after seeing lots of decent reviews, but there seem to be so many promising MMOs in the last few years, but they have got boring way too quickly.

One thing i found out about Wildstar is that they were in development for a long time, longer than they could have been. Reason is though is that they wanted to release with a bunch of future content ready to go. They claim to have 18 months worth of content ready to add when needed.

However its still an MMO.. you rent gametime and are responsible for your own fun, if you can use the more dynamic combat system, artstyle & story to help blinker your view that "i'm grinding.. this is grinding im doing" then give it a go but i think once that thought appears regularly..

Well I think its your "inner-gamer" that is telling you to stop MMO'ing.

I tried the Elder Scrolls beta but it didn't really grab me. Didn't have much time to play admittedly but seemed like it was aimed mainly at people who had played the non-MMO Elder Scrolls series.
