World War Z

I'm not generally one to go for horror / zombie reading, as most of it is absolutely terrible gutter fiction that's an embarasment to have on one's bookshelf, yet alone be seen in public reading.

However thanks to a good habit for judging books by their covers, which has been well employed recently as quite frankly, my favorite authors do not release books regularly enough, I picked up "World War Z" the other day, by Max Brooks. Some of you may recognise nhis name as the author of "The Zombie Survival Guide".

wwZ is written entirely in character, chronicaling the decade long war between zombies and the human race which has just about been finished, though isolated pockets of resistance remain. From the blurb on the back cover, the first word inside to the last page it completely immerses you in a world where the dead came back to like, stuck their arms out, mumbled "BRaaaaaaains" and had to be killed with headshots.

So far (40% through ish) it's excellent fun. fairly gruesome as can be expected from a aproalypse zombie horror fest, but tons and tons of fun. Buy it today (once you have read the othe rone i recomended of course )

Read through Children of Hurin a couple of times. Loved it but very disjointed as expected.

Currently re-reading Zombie Survival Guide and World War Z by Max Brooks. Amazing stuff and must reads if you like your Apocalyptic/Post Apocalyptic Fiction.

No need to read it before WWZ mate tbh. Its a lot of fun too though but also disturbingly close to being non fiction (as much as it can be with the subject matter anyway).

Zombie survival guide (to which me and all my friends have copies and have written out plans just incase zombies do attack) Is very funny it is written matter of factly and very serious! it had me in stitches with all the different descriptions of zombies and where the best locations to hide and the ideal number of people to have in a group (5-6 apparently)

Just downloading the audiobook of WWZ. Has anyone listened to this at all? I'm hoping it's atmospheric and not just a bloke (I've probably never heard of) reading a book (I've never read). Also, has anyone seen the Zombie Diaries film at all?

Ahhh, I love the undead. Though not in a way that would cause complications with my marriage!
