I have a Panasonic viera 42 inch plasma in the living room. According to the manual it acccepts 720p, 1080i and 1080p. When i set the xbox to each of these the picture quality seems brilliant at 720p but not as good at either of the 1080s. IIs that normal or is the tv manual telling porkies?

/edit just noticed its running at 50hz as well. Could the problem be that I need to reset the xbox to run at 60hz to get full benefit?

Mine runs on automatic and I think generally when I notice it change, in game is 720 on a plasma as well (better refresh rate), mine does also have a gaming mode setting which I find helps in all games and is a little brighter which helps, 1080 I think is mainly on the xbox dashboard

Good call on having it on the big telly and not PC monitor though :)

What model is the tv mate? It may accept a 1080p signal but be 720p native which may explain it.

I run my Tv at 720p for the xbox too, although it is supposed to go to 1080i/1080p?

Games look great on the 720p so not bothered to mess about with any other settings.

I think as it says it's HD ready that means it'l be 720p Cull, Tree can confirm though as he seems to understand it all properly

The native res is 1024x768 so 720 would be the best match.

PS3 and 360 games are generally rendered in 720p and quite often lower than that. If you have a 1080p TV and the 360 set to 1080p it upscales the games but I've noticed you lose a few frames and the detail suffers a little bit.
