Simplified, changed, but not nerfed.

Points costs on some things have gone up.
Biomorph options are signifianctly reduced and what exist are changed
Weapons are greatly increased in terms of numbers
MCs exist in all ranges now inc troops.

Definately dont see a nerf. But i do see a different army to the previous codex.

they feel a lot more swarmy than before. maybe that was the effect of having 7 tervigons on the board against me :p (2*1500 pt armies)
personally, though, i loved the whole imagary of our space marine forces pouring shots out into this swarm, trying to take down the big stuff as this tidy of gaunts flows towards us :p

That sounds like fun :)

Especially for me and my re-rolls with flame and melta weapons!!!

Its good to see them becoming more of a swarm army though, it was something that was missing from games until the latest edition of the rules where troops became a requirement (at last), now we can gun down hordes of the enemy as opposed to facing three grossly over powered miniatures.

Frankly I appluad it :)

indeed. im kind of interested to see how 32 nids (for 500pts) will fare vs marines and tau tonight.

Depends on what they take to be honest, I would personally have something like:

HQ: Librarian 100(ish)
Troop: Tactical squad with flamer and missile launcher (190 ish)
Troop: 10 Man scout squad with sniper rifles (190 ish)

So thats 21 versus 30, would make for a fun game!

the problem most armies have vs nids in small games, is a complete lack of ways to seriously impact a hive tyrant. they can mow down small stuff, but a couple of monstrous creatures and they're screwed.
but tau dont have that problem, as their fire warriors hurt it a fair bit, and a decent crisis suit commander could be causing 2-3 wounds on it in one turn, at short range.

i dont have an army builder with me at work (as i cant find an iphone app for one - think we need to talk gottaa into making one :p), but i'd guess (from memory, havnt played tau in 6months) tau could get a crisis suit commander w/ plasma and fusion, 2*10man firewarriors w/ rifles, and a hammerhead w/ ion cannon inside 500 points. which would, potentially, do some fairly nasty things to nids - since they find it fairly tricky to get up to 2+ saves these days.

I suspect itll be a commander + 2 X 5 man tac squads with flamer + Assault termies tonight, some kind of Tau, maybe and IG and likely an Ork Waaagh band.

I'd assume that creating an app would get the people that make the game turn around and stamp on the app, dunno, still trying to find the time to finish the Splitz update, start on the next game, and indeed buy Black Reach and get into playing myself :)

Requiel

PVC Love God
10 Wraithguard + warlock with Conceal ~400points <- troops choice :D
10 Guardians w/ scatter laser ~100 points

Well the good folks at wolflair that make army builder ex seem to do ok. An app that loaded in their sorcefiles would be ace :p

They appear to have permission to do it though, as I read not long ago about another site being downed due to the data they had. I think that in effect you would need to approach them and get permission first, that being the case I'd want to do other stuff first anyway rather than just showing them Splitz which only really took me like a couple of hours to do.

I have to say this performed admirable.

Against Eldar, a mistake on the eldars player meant i recovered and forced a submission. Mistake was leaving 1 model within 6inches of the Malantai and forcing a leadership test.

Against CSM. the DoM helped but Hormagaunts with Toxin Sacs and Adrenal glands are just evil on the charge. Get 8 in there and your on 24 attacks, (rerolling 1s on a to hit) then wounding on 4+ (rerolling any failed if youre STR is =/+ opponents T) they just felt much more dangerous in cc than the previous codex.

heh. had a pack of 12 hormogaunts attack my 5 'lazy' tactical marines (they have a bit of a rep for sitting on objectives :p)... who proceeded to beat the crap out of them :D only about 12 hits even with rerolls, of which they got 9 wounds... and i saved all 9 :p then proceeded to butcher 4 of them (with my 6 attacks), and then another 4 cause they were fearless. was brilliant :D.

glad you had fun though :) shame your not up around the midlands, would love to have some games one weekend :(
