AAARGH! More computer problems

Since getting new HD, dvd writer and Emmon's ram the comp ( Touches everything woody in sight - yes including THAT!) has never ran better.

Booted up this morning to it getting to the flashing cursor stage then this :

"A disk read error has occurred press ctrl+alt+delete to restart". I did as ordered and it just kept going back to that message. Reading online was just confusing, hundresd of different fixes everything from setting the bios to defaults, updating bios to messing about in error consoles. One site did say check the cabling so I did and everything seemed to be fine there. It also recommended trying the cable in another sata port. I did this and lo and behold - Booted normally. Happy days!

Does this look like its just been a dodgy port on the MB or the cable has failed, or that there might be some other deep seated problem?

I have noticed that on booting up, after the mobo splash screen I get a line of text saying what mobo is installed and the next line underneath says no drive detected - which is blatantly untrue as checking in device manager the new HD is obviously there. Anyone shed any light on that plz?

I have found that when using cheaper sata cables they can work themselves free. it doesn't take much till u have a bad connection. look at getting better cables, thee are ones with spring clips which stay in better

also if it the MB ones coming loose it may be a sign that the MB is getting hot. look at your case fans and the air flow thru the case
