AC2 Alliance

Zerine

Just a post to disclose how Alliances (guilds) work in AC2.

Alliances in AC2 don't work like any other game - it's based on pledges of allegience and having vassels.

Best to describe it in an example. Say a load of UKers go on to Frostfell in AC2 and wanna form up the obligatory ClanUK. There are 13 CUKs on AC2, so 12 of them pledge Allegience to the 13th (let's say it's Fungus). Now we're all in the Fungus Allegience. The basically means we get our own chat chanel. Now each of the 12 vassels can go and get 12 vassels (other players) of their own (12 is the max number of vassels a player can have). So Zerine could be the patron for 12 vassels while she in turn is a vassel to Fungus (her patron).

So besides the /guildchat thing, what does this all do?

WELL

All experience vassles get, their patron gets a share of too - this doesn't mean the vassels loose xp, they still get the full 100% xp they'd nowrmally get, it's more the patron get's a bonus xp dependant on the amount of xp the vassel earned. So say Zerine goes out and earns 100 xp, Fungus could get 1xp (if it's based on 1% of vassels xp). So if there's a HUGE allience with 100's of ppl in it, the head patron (monarch) is in for some PHAT XP.

So what's the catch?

Breaking alligience is as easy as swearing it. You give your patron free xp by earning it, but as he's gonna be always higher than you due to earning xp himself plus the bonus it's in his/her intrest to keep you getting good xp (helping with quests, providing better equipment and just generally helping out to get your xp - kinda like a fairy godfather/mother/PLer :D ).

EG

Say Fungus has 12 CUK vassels all feeding him free xp as they go about their adventures, he helps them out with quests and equipment. Now say one of the vassels is Zerine and she also has 12 vassels herself who all give her xp for their earnt xp (these vassels are also in Fungus' Allegience as he's at the top of the chain). Fungus indirectly gets xp off Zer's vassels too as it count's as earnt XP for Zerine, and therfore he gets bonus xp of that.

It's all kinda like a chainletter.

Does that make sense?

Oh, and depending on where you stand in the allegience (how many patrons above/vassels below) there are, determines your title (Lord, Yeoman etc..). The guy/girl at the top is called the Monarch regardless of the number of vassels but his/her title depends on the number of vassels through the allegience.

I think this system was introduced to make guilds actually work for each other - making the higher levels actually work for the noobs (or else they'll find themselves with no vassels as they all break their oath to the patron).

Very new system, should be interesting to see how it works out generally in AC2.

We used the system in the original AC mate works well but CUK won't get 12 people to play this game so we may be better off swearing to one of the larger alliances dependant on the faction we choose later on.

BTW fook off am I being monarch :D

One is not Amused
There are ppl going around just helping ppl do quests and supplying equipment in the main noob town (arwic) to get ppl to pledge allegience to them. They need to keep that up if they wanna keep the pledges. So being a 'head honch' requires a lot of legwork to keep the vassels happy and feeding you xp.

Dunno if I could be arsed having vassels whining at me all the time to help 'em do this quest or that dungeon.

A double edgedsword, methinks.

PS this is Zer - 'round at Fan's place atm
