Will it last? Absolutely. It's not just a question of something coming along that "does it better" as I think WoW has done the 'traditional' MMO better than anyone has or will. I think it'll take something completely new to come along to see similar numbers of subscribers in a game.

I'd agree, as UO is still going after all these years and WoW has a much much larger player base, it is mad to think it won't be around a good long while yet.

I'm going to call mine "Ironing and Cooking" and give her huge cans.
That's called a wife m8, keep it simple :D Call her wifey if that helps...has more flow to it.

I think WoW and UO are very different beasts though from what i can see.
The main drive for WoW is endgame raiding. Once they stop releasing new content, or promising it even, it will very quickly get stale. They are adding things to extend the life of it, such as being able to lock your level so you can effectively go back to Vanilla, then TBC, then WotLk, then maelstrom etc, but eventually it'll die.

/shouts from the kitchen...

Problem there is they always weaken (nerf?) the older content when new content arrives. So while you can stay 60 and go to those raids they'll be much easier than they were originally, also you'll have access to TBC and WotLK talents as well as the new TBC equipment, which kicked in at 57 and was way more powerful than most level 60 raid stuff. And of course every single class/spec is now much more powerful/balanced than it was ever in Vanilla.

Unless they open a bunch of Vanilla servers untouch by anything that came after then it won't work. And even then I feel people will start to realise they were looking back at Vanilla with Rose Tinted Glasses - paricully anyone who plays a Pally 'Tank' or a Balance Druid ;)
