I can't think it'll mess up the iPods as we don't have it installed on the mac and the iPods work and sync just fine, only issue would be if it put stuff on the iPods which tied the iPod syncing to it being installed

What is it though ? And why didn't you want to install it ?

Edit: Reading Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonjour_(software)

Maybe we do have it installed, not sure I see what the risk would be though unless Wikipedia is missing something, or I stopped reading before the juicy bit. Reading that though it will need it installed to work

hehe.
"Not sure what it is, or what it does, and it just installs itself with no reason given then starts broadcastign around your local network".

Nice on apple. Are you trying to follow Sony ?

ps. Mother.... It's installed on mine too. Right, that's it....

The program can be removed from MS Windows through the Control Panel Add/Remove Programs list. Some registry entries may be left behind after removal.

Reading online Chick, its not that simple - apparently reinstalls itself unless you go through some ancient and arcane ritual...

Made the wikipedia link work above, but the bit I stopped at was

Bonjour is sometimes misunderstood to make services on a personal computer (for instance, file sharing) available to the public Internet, which could be considered a security risk. In fact, Bonjour does not provide any extra access to services, even on the same local area network (LAN); it merely announces ("advertises") their existence. For example, a user can browse a list of nearby computers which share filesBonjour on these computers has told the user that the service is availablebut he or she must still provide a password to access any protected files on these machines. Additionally, Bonjour works only in a close range; by default, its messages only reach users of the same link. Thus, the only security impact of Bonjour is that advertised services are no longer protected by security through obscurity on the local network. If the services are protected through a means other than obscurity, they will remain protected.

Which means only people connected to the same router as you see anything, and after reading that bit I couldn't care about it :), if it makes the iPod work smoothly and other stuff I don't care about so be it, heck I run Vista I'm used to my machine doing loads of crap I don't want it to ;)
