After we all fight our way to the top, they go and do this:

Adjustments to Difficulty
Particularly challenging Chains of Promathia battlefields, such as those that appear in the Promyvion areas (Holla, Dem, Mea, Vahzl), and the missions "Flames for the Dead" and "The Warrior's Path", will have their difficulty level toned down. These adjustments will include changes to monster level and placement.
We also hope that the following changes to items used specifically against Chains of Promathia enemies will encourage players to brave the dangers found in the mission battlefields.

-Rare/Ex Properties
The special items introduced for use against enemies found within the Chains of Promathia battlefields will have their "Ex" properties removed, allowing these items, such as psychoanima and mistmelt, to be put up for auction. Certain items will also have the "Rare" property removed, allowing players to carry multiples of the same item

all games reduce the difficulty of things after a while. Its to allow more of the playerbase to experience the content, whilst the 'l33t high end' people move on to new stuff. For example, in WoW at the moment they're about to nerf magtheridon - one of the 25man raid bosses - but that doesnt mean we're going to give up on him and wait for when he's easy, we're trying to get him killed before the nerf, so that we can be one of the few guilds (on our server) to have killed hard-version-maggy, something that then will always be limited to just a few guilds.

I understand, but after 4years of playing i've never seen anything like this happen in FFXI before, and now they start to do it.

They have toned down the game before with the XP cut to require to level up and all, but this is just LOL because it's couple weeks AFTER we just redid all the promy fights for you WOW returnees. XD
