After many attempts and several piles or corpses, we finally made it to the Grim Guzzler in BRD \o/

Temp got 3 purple Tailoring recipes with high fire resist from the Flarecore set and the +20 spirit and +15 strength Enchants. These are all faction recipes from the Thorium Brotherhood.

Many thanks to those involved; we all got sparklies and it was indeed a giggle.

I'm looking at how hard revered and exalted are with Thorium but I suspect it will be too hard to do for one person. I think it involves collecting half a mountain's worth of ore.

FYI: don't start a fight with the barman. Scorp!

If you want the Barman Shanker (one of the best backstab/ambush daggers in the game), you have to start a fight with the barman, as its Plugger Spazzring (best MMO name EVAH) who drops it. Best to duo it with two Rogues though, as then you can stealth out once the patrons get pissed off that you've murdered their source of alcohol. If in a group, you need to know where the exit from that section is and to move quickly

Had never heard of it before now.

Really only went for the recipes and Bunty is 6 levels away from it yet. The Tunic he drops is pretty good. Both BOP though, according to Thott.

Yeah I am thinking of switch SS to be backstab so need that dagger.

Rogue + dr00d would be best duo combo. You need to pull away the two adds from the bar by purchasing beer and throwing it into the corner and then twatting them first. I think theres a WoW vid somewhere showing how to do it. You *can* solo it but its quite tough (although not as tough as soloing Pyromancer Loregrain).

Apricot says the 2nd part of a quest chain is to whack Incendius, which is a shame 'cos we whacked him 2 or 3 times, hehe.

It did take us a long time, but it will be quicker next time because we have Shadowforge keys and now we know the layout. It would be good to go back and get Prison keys though; not everyone got one 'cos the cloth bint doesn't drop one every time.

Anyone down for another trip?

Oh, and no point getting Exalted; I think Thorium goodies end at Revered.

Yeah, got 4 from 6, which on an 8% drop rate is pretty odd. However, when I soloed Pyromancer, it took me about 15 kills for the Fiery Weapon Enchant and thats a 12% drop rate. Plus he's a rare spawn (1 in 5 roughly) and with the instance limit of 5 in an hour, it was a right pain. Plus Pyromancer is tough coz he has two adds, and although you can Imp Sap one, it still needs Cold Blood Evis, Prep, Cold Blood Evis and a Major Healing Pot at least to kill him and then you have to make sure you have enough health left to loot and then Vanish. Also, if you do kill him and then die before you loot, by the time you've run back and re-stealthed through the instance, 9 times out of 10 you won't be quick enough to loot as the corpse will have disappeared. Grr.

Still, worth doing if you're an enchanter and a masochist

BRD is a top instance though, probably my favourite although I also quite like Light Strath as well coz the fights are fun with the Scarlet Invokers and its quite a challenge with a 5.

ermm we did start a fight with the barman (in fact our warrior and grey kinda killed him) and grey kinda headed straight into the mob just like a typical dwarf! That was when it kinda went pear shaped but it was fun hehe. Got to go back again anyway even if it is for more fun and bar fights!

It took me 23 solo runs to get it... /tantrum

then 4 duo's with guildies, and got 3 out of 4 runs. i'm half convinced they messed with the drop rate to stop rogues solo-farming it quite so easily.

Could be the old loot table generation key thing. I was trying to get Totem of Sustaining for ages, did 10 or so runs in scholo with no luck. Soon as I made someone else the leader, it dropped ... twice.

Nasty. I just got lucky. I got it, respecced and then realised that although a good backstab spec is good against cloth wearers, it sucks against warriors, rogues, hunters, loladins and in instances, so respecced back again, got a Krol Blade, went back to double swords (coz swords pwn) and didn't ever use it again!

Bunty refuses to use Swords for some reason tho!

daggers are more ... personal

actually have one sword, one dagger at the moment purely 'cos both are good quest items.

Daggers can be OK off hand (Julies Dagger is nice coz of its speed, proc and its ability to put poison on quickly) but you want the biggest max damage weapon you can find in your main hand coz of SS unless you bag yourself a Deathstriker or whatever the fook its called

The Long Way

Go out of the back door of the bar (Plugger Spazzring), then you'll find a flight of stairs to Shadowforge Citeh. Fight your way through, down the ramp on the left IIRC, then you'll find Ambassador Flameflash. Kill him if you want. Go to left of room, to the Mould Foundreh; sometimes Panzor is here (leet Golem), sometimes not. Get to the ledge at the end of the walkway, drop down and hug the wall (avoids aggro) and you'll be in the Chamber of the Seven.

This is fun, need to kill the ghosts of the seven d0rfs that guard Lyceum. One of them will teach you how to smelt dark iron (costs 10 Truesilver bars, 20 gold and 2 Star Rubies IIRC) if you want to do that after ze fight. Talking to the warlock dude there starts the event and you have to kill each of the seven ghosts.

Then, to get to the forge, where the entrance to the Lyceum is, turn right towards the bridge, kill the elementals and then veer left towards the forge. You'll need to kill the ele guarding it.

Then you can go to the Lyceum where it gets fun and I won't spoil that bit for you

The Short Way.

Get to the ramp/walkway where Incendius lives. Drop down off the side where the walkway starts, swim QUICKLY to the edge. Run round the ledge. Dive into the fire again, watching for swimming patrols. Get to rock, heal, jump off, swim some more, turn left and you're at the Forge walkway. I think. Been ages since I've been roaming around solo in BRD.

I haven't played rogue past a lvl 19 WSG twink, but our dagger rogues regularly out-damage our sword rogues in raids (one of our dagger rogues is always #1). Having to attack from behind is a bit of a pain, but you should be attacking from behind anyway, since that prevents your target from parrying.
As with swords, the slowest, hardest hitting daggers are the best, since you're using a lot of instant attacks. If you're getting a free attack, might as well get a large free attack.

Haemo builds don't require daggers, so also benefit from the hardest hitting weapons (swords or maces, and sword spec's generally considered to be "better" than mace spec).
