bewk is the northern option i think. (or at least, its my geordie housemate that keeps wanting to call it that, while the rest of us pronounce it properly.)
"Bewk" sounds either Liverpudlian or sad Mackem twattspeak. You sure your mate aint rilly from Sunderland? I'm as Geordie as they come, accent wise and Ive never heard it pronounced like that north of Roker.
