collectors edition: what a dispointment

so much so i think ill send mine back if things are not sorted by the 24th.

it falls a long way short of what we were meant to get.

no hope of finding a ring, they will still run the contest, but it going to be some other format now

the letter , basically say hi thanks for giving us your money now bugger off

the map. was meant to be a high quality cloth map of middle earth is not a poor quality map of angmar. i use better paper in my laser printer if iam sending a letter to a friend and it looks like it been drawn by a 12year old who only know how to use the clone tool

the hard back manual is still there. it pocket size format on top of that the printer it on "dirty" paper to make it look old. in truth cause of the size of it and paper used it hard to read, and the maps in it are total useless

the figure comes unpainted with a nice letter tell you what colours to paint it and were for 5 you can buy the paint (which cause of my shaky hands will never be painted)

the case that the whole lots comes in is meant to look like a v old book (leather binded aged pages) and It my mind it just looks tacky

I still can't see the attraction of a tea towel, hardback manual (pocket sized), leather wristband and a tiny metal figure for 50 extra was worth it in the first place?

True, but the point is we were happy to pay out for this. Now it seems we will not even get what we've paid for.

Maybe it's irrational but I'm completely p*ssed off with this. I've already emailed dvd.co.uk (and I've not even received it yet!).

So annoyed with CodeMasters that I'm going back to Vanguard for a month to cool off!!

LOL Priceless Flight mate. :)

Bad way to launch a game, bad blood already.

I'm not sure how I feel about it but then I haven't recieved my CE yet.

I was in to it mainly because its something rare to do with LOTR and fits nicely on the shelf amongst the collection.

I'll wait to see how it looks and see if CM have ended any more discussion about it following Satine's post.

Shame as its been a super launch and I love the game with each passing day.

You're really bigging up Trading Standards there Flight! I can assure you that the majority of people won't find the phone conversation with them as rewarding as you did!

You're wrong mate. The contents of the CE are so different to those advertised its ridiculous. Its a very clear breach of The Trade of Goods Act 1979. The US Collectors Edition contains most of it and costs 30, or 5 more than the regular edition. These cost us nearly 200 a throw.

The problem here is that none of us ever challenge the game industry; usually they can get away with all sorts of stuff which basically comes down to crapping all over the customers.

The difference here is they have broken a very serious law. It carries a max penalty of 2 years imprisonment and 5000 per unit shipped.

Got mine this morning and its ok. Its difficult to see where the extra money is going into outside of the subscription.

CoG have said they are going to send out cloth maps now and so along with the wristband etc there will be extra's.

Not sure why I have two more unique cloaks as maybe something else would have been nice.

Overall I think an RRP of 140-150ish would have been about fair if the other bits and pieces turn up.

Yes I agree with that mate. At that price I would have been happy. Ridiculous when you consider the US Collectors Edition is 5 more than their regular edition (25), includes the map, the making of dvd, the soundtrack dvd and 3 different items in game, only one of which is a cloak.

Nothing can stop the overwhelming fun of the Shire, though. My max character is still only level 12; doing every single quest and there are LOADS :)

Im just getting the standard version on release day. Your right about the quests Flight, every time you turn around theres more folk with little rings over there heads!

I was just saying that most Trading Standards departments are shite. It does sound like a breach of the 1979 Act, and a lot of the EU regulations (think distance selling has already been quoted) provide additional protection. EU law is more rigorous that its American counterpart (one reason why things are more expensive). The best example is statutory warranty. In America it's 90 days, whilst in the EU, I think it's 2 years. But I digress... I was just pointing out that most TS departments are rubbish, and some people will be lucky if their claim doesn't get lost before it even reaches the consumer protection advisors!
