Crackdown

Anyone out there have this for the 360 and what's general opinions on it ?

Hoping to bite the bullet and get the 360 in May (when Forza 2 comes out, hopefully it'll have had a price drop then as well and be a good Forza bundle) but looking at other games which I might be interested in and it looks to be rather fun.

Main reason is some old friends used to play PS2 GT at our various houses at the weekend and since growing up and moving away that option's no longer there but Forza and the 360 seem to offer us the best option for driving/realism and laughing at the person you overtake on the last corner to win the race :) We all spoke about it over the weekend and although one guy didn't really like the 360 controller as much as the old PS2 one (and so really the PS3 one as well) he agreed the 360 was the best option for us to do this.

Oh and I guess anyone recommend any other driving games, maybe some multi-player off-road stuff if we fancied some more crazy jumpy loon-ness rather than Forza's road racing

Rent it, don't buy it. It's fun for a very short while but soon becomes very repetative.

Recommends : Gear of War, Smackdown vs Raw (with mates and alcohol), Burn Out, Ghost Recon, Pro Evolotion Soccer.

Avoid : Project Gotham 3 (Nowhere near as good as 2), Dead Rising, Lost Planet.

That's straight from him. And i'll add don't touch Top Spin 2 it's awful and very frustrating, oh the wrestling one is funny to make up weird looking wrestlers, I don't play it though :)

Lucky for you Roch that doesn't support on-line racing :p

And Ta for that Janie, the 360 will I think have very few games for it as it's only really for fun with friends who live to far away to be in the living room (if that makes sense)

Ghost Recon is one I'd forgotten about and will try out when I get it, I'm told you can download demo's over x-box live as well so hopefully I don't even need to rent games to try them.

Crackdown does have an added appeal though that it comes with an invite into the Halo 3 beta which while I'm less fussed about now I know my step nephews (I think that the right name for em) would go "crazy mad" for Halo 3 :)

And is Top Spin 2 a new game ?

I've just started to play it and I'd give it another crack Janie tbh.

I've played for about 10 hours so far and haven't even really started on the main missions much. With these sandbox games there is so much to do outside of the actual point of the game. Creating huge car pile ups, jumping from roof to roof spiderman style exploring the city, the road and foot race missions, unlocking all of the achievements, collecting agility and secret orbs, raising stats etc. I'd liken it to a Cyberpunk Oblivion with not so much area to explore.

I'd disagree on Lost Planet and especially Dead Rising sorry Janie.

Dead Rising is my fav 360 game so far. It has its problems like the archaic save system and the controls can be unwieldy but its survival horror at its best and pretty unsettling when the amount of zombies in the mall increase. You need 2 or 3 play throughs to see it all as well and in true Capcom style lots of achievements and secrets to find. Still haven't got the Megaman outfit yet!!!

I allowed the first Xbox to be traded in for the newer one because he told the new one will have Top Spin 2 (I loved the first Top Spin on the original Xbox). Firstly Top Spin 2 didn't come out for ages then when it did it's awful compared to the original one :( I could list the reasons why but your probably not interested :p Nothing that i've seen on the new Xbox interests me much.

Top Spin 3 is looking pretty spiffing Janie. PS3 release March 23, would assume the 360 version will be same day.

Ohhh where did you trade in the old xbox to get a 360 ? I'd like to do that if only to have less clutter (and old xbox sell for peanuts on e-bay) and maybe buy an extra game and the 360 wireless adaptor cos I can't be arsed to run a cable to the wherever the 360 ends up living.

The bit of Crackdown which got me paying attention was something along the lines of:

"Pickup cars and throw them at the enemies"

That just sounds fun :)

Its a waste of money to buy, as Janie says. Rent.

No games have more than a few hours actual playability in them.

Mmm and the Hulk style jumping when you get your skill up. I like the way you can target parts of the body as well. I believe there is an achievement where you have to fall from as high as you can without dieing. :)

Games have been going more and more that way for a long time but I've gotten 40+ hours each out of Oblivion and Dead Rising and still going. Even a pretty quick game like GoW can keep you busy for a while finding all the secrets and achievements. Its more how people are playing games now than the games themselves imo.

Rainbow six Vegas is the best game on the 360 at the mo,mostly cos of the online game i admit but the single player game is decent.GOW is prob better in single player and online has more peeps playing it but its limited compared to Vegas .

Is it that bad Legs mate or can you get past it with the pure amount of units you can use??

u dont choose the units you play

they are pre defined scenarios

just find teh whole thing clunky, the planes i find a nightmare to control and i have played countless flight sims.

Actually, I'm loving crackdown. Put in about 10 hours about 60% the way thro the single player.

Saints Row is good, but I got distracted with it and can't pick it up again.

Test Drive Unlimited is actually good and large when you treat it as an MMORPG.
