As you all prolly know, Milii and I craft alot. If anybody needs any help lvling a craft and needs info on what to make etc, please feel free to ask. I'm actually thinking about making a skillup list for Alchemy, i did alot of research into it and discovered the best and cheapest ways to skillup, actually I've prolly made gil rather then losing it.
As soon as i've got Alchemy to 90 I'll be lvling Bonecraft and Leathercraft on mules.

ok guys, here's a start if you wanna get Alchemy to 20, quite cheaply and quickly. I figured not to do one huge post but to break down into 20s.

0-6 Tsurara (sell at AH)- Ice Crystal+Rock Salt (vendor)+ 2xDistilled Water(vendor)

also from 5-7 Animal Glue(either sell at AH or keep for later)=Fire Crystal+Rabbit Hide+2xBone Chip(windy vendor)

6-12 Poison Dust (keep)=Lightning Crystal+2xYellow Globe

12-16 Mercury (keep)=Lightning Crystal+4xCobalt Jellyfish

16-18 Poison Potion (sell at Jueno AH or keep)=Water Crystal+Mercury+Poison Dust

18-20 Echo Drops (sell at AH)=Water Crystal+Sage(vendor)+Distilled Water(vendor)+Honey

Just some notes to add. Most fish can be bought from Windy fishing guild but if you know someone who fishes then even better. Some stuff like animal glue, poison potion, mercury you may want to keep b/c they are used in later recipes.

Hope this is of some help. I'll post 20-40 soon^_^

Clothcraft...

Forgot to post this earlier, rough guide to clothcraft 0-52. By no means definite, this is what I did being a total cheapskate. :)

With regards to the recipes listed here, unless otherwise stated the crafting result of the recipe is always a single item. For cloths there is no HQ version. For pieces of equipment there is always the chance of +1.

Clothcraft for beginners:

Amateur 1-10
To start off, Giddeus is the best. Everything you need to level to 11 you can farm/harvest there for free (well, cost of sickles). All you need are wind and earth crystals, some lightning.

1-3
Grass thread (3)
Yagudo necklace Wind crystal (result: 3-12 grass threads)
or 2x Moko Grass Lightning crystal (result: 1 grass thread)

3-4
Grass cloth (4)
3x Grass thread Earth crystal

4-8
Headgear (5)
1x Grass thread 2x Grass cloth Wind crystal

Head gears cap at 5 and you can do them if you want to. After lvl 5 move on to capes.

Cape (8)
1x Grass thread 2x Grass cloth Earth crystal

Capes cap at 8 and are also the first item you need to hand for your exam to move up a rank.

Recruit 10-20

Now you can move up a notch from grass to cotton. Saruta cotton can be harvested in Giddeus or if you like mining in Oldton you should be able to desynth plenty of it.

8-12
Cotton thread (11)
2x Saruta cotton Lightning crystal

If you harvested in Giddeus or farmed in Tahrongi you should have plenty of cotton.

Cotton cloth (12)
3x Cotton thread Earth crystal

Either use thread from above or desynth from moblin armor.

Tekko (12)
1x Lauan Lumber 1x Grass Thread 2x Grass cloth Earth Crystal
I did lots of these back when I was leveling craft (remember that I took my bloody time leveling clothcraft), Lauan lumber requires 1-3 woodworking skill to make and cheap to buy from the guild in San D'Oria. Good way to get rid of last bits of grass thread and cloth for now. If you still have grass thread and cloth left you can also make these:

12-19
Kenpogi (18)
1x Grass thread 3x Grass cloth Earth crystal

Cheap to make, nice skill raises, make a profit but sell slowly. Desynthing is barely worth it but you can turn them back into grass cloth.

Your exam item is:
Cotton Cape (18)
1x Cotton thread 2x Cotton cloth Earth crystal

You can use the cotton thread and cloth you made and skill up on the capes till 18 (or Cotton headgears till 15), but if you have lots of wind crystals to spare it's better at 12 to move straight to Yagudo Fletchings as you can use the Cotton later on much better. There are few bits and bobs you can make in the early teens, such as Vagabond's tunicas (cap 14) that can make a nice profit at the AH but they sell very slowly.

Linen Thread (19)
2x Flax flower Lightning crystal

If you harvested while in Giddeus then might as well turn all those flowers into thread now.

Initiate 20-30

feathers!!!

12-22
Yagudo Fletching (22)
2x Yagudo feather Wind crystal (result:6-10 fletchings)

If you start these at 12 you will fail a lot at the start unless you stick to windsday+ full moon. But they are by far the cheapest way to get to 22 fast. They also sell well and quick in San D'Oria, 1-2k per stack as they are used in crafting a lot of different arrow types.

22-24
Now you get to a bit of a dead bit. Lots of things you can make but none that are really efficient until you get 24 at least. Noticed on allakhazam that Moblinweave caps at 23, if this is correct that makes a nice thing to make 22-23 (3x Moblin thread Earth crystal). It is from here on that you can use the cotton you made earlier much better than before 22.

I made red caps and fisherman pants myself from the linen and cotton I had saved up earlier.
Fisherman's Hose (23)
1x Cotton thread 1x Cotton cloth 2x Linen cloth Earth crystal

Red Cap (24)
1x Chocobo feather 1x Linen thread 2x Linen cloth Earth crystal

24-27
Heko Obi (27)
2x Cotton cloth 1x Grass thread Earth crystal

Heko obis... you might as well synth+desynth these to at least get back a cotton cloth, they sell for crap at AH. Keep one for your lvl 28 exam. If by fluke you get a +1 they are rather nice.

27-30
Kaginawa (29)
1x Manticore hair 1x Grass thread 1x Bronze ingot Earth crystal (result: 33-99 kaginawa)
If you have 12+ Smithing and patience to farm Manticore hair, go for it. Even if you don't get any HQs there is nice gil to be made from these. They are the ninjutsu tool for Hojo (slow).

Fly Lure (30)
1x Chocobo feather 1x Bat fang 1x Animal glue Earth crystal
Requires 8+ bonecraft, if you have it these are the cheapest option.

Soil Hachimaki (30)
2x Linen cloth Wind crystal

Without support crafts soil hachimakis will work out best for here.

Novice 30-40

30-37
Shinobi-Tabi (34)
1x Saruta cotton 2x Cotton cloth 1x Grass thread Earth crystal (result: 33-99 shinobi-tabi)

Sell nice and steady at Jeuno AH, when I leveled craft these made a nice profit even if I bought cotton cloths from AH. Now I doubt it... They are the ninjutsu tool for Tonko (invisible).

Wool Thread (35)
2x Sheep wool Lightning crystal

Wool Cloth (37)
3x Wool thread Earth crystal

I spent a couple of days farming in konschtat/latheine for sheepskins, (2x sheepskin and a wind crystal to make one clump of wool, requires leathercraft skill 1-4). Then turned them all into wool thread and cloth. You don't really need to do this and can move on to Bird Fletchings at 32 if you want to, but I wanted to try crafting different items here and there so stacked up on wool. Also I knew from the Yagudo fletching stage that once you start crafting fletchings your mules fill up fast, so alternated wool with bird fletchings.

34-42
Bird Fletchings (42)
2x Bird feather Wind crystal (result:6-10 fletchings)

These aren't as nice as the yagudo fletchings. Materials are still cheap to buy/farm but they don't sell very well even in San D'Oria and last I checked were about 500-1000gil per stack. You will cut even or make a small profit though if you have the patience to sell them.

Exam item is
Feather Collar (37)
7x Bird feather 1x Wool cloth Earth Crystal

Apprentice 40-50

42-52
Insect Fletchings (52)
2x Insect wing Wind crystal (result:6-10 fletchings)

Buy stacks of insect wings from Bastok AH for usually cheapest prices or farm for them. These are by far the best-selling fletchings at San D'Oria AH, going anywhere from 1-3k per stack depending on supply. Fail all you want at early levels, you will still make a small profit off these.

Exam item is
Wool Bracers (46)
2x Saruta cotton 2x Wool cloth 1x Wool thread Earth crystal

Remeber to do the Wool bracers and trade them in by 50 to finish capping insect fletchings at 52.

Past 52 Clothcraft gets expensive as you move on to silk (green ribbons mostly). I'll worry about it when I have some gil to spare. :)

Mastah Lurker -.-
Ooook. I did a few bits i've been meaning to put up here for a wee while now, altho not exactly amazing, i found useful so thought i might post up in case any of u thought the same.

I always got a bit irritated when lookin at crafting recipe lists on the likes of allak. that if u printed the list off they would A) not fit on the page properly if u printed them out onto A4 (u would always get some crappy little overhang on one side or the other of the page which would warrant u printing off a whole other page which had like 8 words on it or something equally stupid and not in the least bit helpful) and B) u couldnt easily tell which Crystals u had to farm (if u needed to) without havin to actually trace down the list (sounds a wee bit lazy i know, but it does irritate me slightly lol).

So, i shamelessly pilfered the Recipe Lists off of allak and threw them into a spreadsheet, chopped and changed a few bits (including the width and height) and, altho not exactly amazing or requiring huge amounts of brain power (ideal for me, whoop!) i colour coded all the Crystal type boxes. So u can now take the lists, print em out onto A4 pages in landscape format so it all fits on one page and not three, and easily trace which Crystal types u will need, should u actually need them :).

I created the spreadsheets in MS Excel 2003 (.xls format) but i realise that not everyone will have this, so i also created the lists in HTML format as well, so u shouldn't have any problems gettin the lists if u actually want them.

I have uploaded all the lists (in both HTML and .xls format) to my personal webspace... well, me dads technically since the accounts under his name, but u get the drift.

list2um.jpg

Here is the Link to the lists! . Please say if u would like anything added/amended etc.

I converted all the major recipe lists into these formats;

Alchemy
Bonecraft
Clothcraft
Cooking
Goldsmithing
Leatherwork
Smithing
and Woodworking.

I hope this is of interest :) Enjoy :)

Rav's crafting thread

A few on ls have been asking me about crafting, I thought I'd make a post because it's easy than trying to explain in-game.

Firstly, let me state, crafting IS NOT for the faint-hearted or for those you think they can make easy and fast money. It takes time, patience and most of all GIL! Yes, I know I can make easy gil now, even NPC'ing stuff I can make 70-90k an hour, but the reason being because I have invested my time and gil into it.

So here goes if you still believe you want to.

Some tips to start off with. I have a mule in every city, reasons being it saves me alot of time from running around to buy stuff from NPCs, also some things are cheaper at AH in various cities and also some stuff sells better in different cities depending on what guild is there.

Crystals! You are going to need tons of them, this can be the major loss part if you have to end up buying them from AH. Keep all the ones you get, I store all mine on a mule. For example, XP party yesterday, I think I came away with 5 stacks of wind and 1 stack of light, this has already saved me 20k or so.

OK, going to start listing guides now, I figure i'll do 1-10 then 10-20 and so on whenever I've got a free hour or so. FYI, I am not going to say which NPC sells what ingredient, I'll leave this to research yourself, info can be found on somepage and alla, I'll just state which are available from an NPC. These are the things I made to skill up, I put alot of time and research into them, so if you want to criticise feel free but I might take it the wrong way haha!

ALCHEMY PART 3

This is where you can start making gil if you farm the ingredients.

20-24 Silent Oil (sell AH and it sells fast)- Water Crystal+ Slime Oil+ 2x Beeswax

beewax is a lvl5 synth and the recipe is Fire Crystal+Dist.Water+3x Beehive Chip

24-27 Blinding potion (keep some and try to sell rest)-Lightning Crystal+Nebimonite+Mercury

few recipes to choose from next

27-31 Minnow-Fire Crystal+ Copper Ingot+ Glass Fiber

27-32 Busuto-Water Crystal+Animal Glue+Poison Potion+Shinobi Gatana (NPC)

note=Minnow requires a goldsmithing subcraft of 2, you dont need to lvl goldsmithing but will get skillups by making these

Feyla

Mrs Sorran
Okies so i've trawled the forums looking for the clothcraft guide that was posted here a while ago. The one that was a guide to the best skill up's.

I can't find it can you help me?

Vigilia

Mrs. Scudley
You mean Aurik's brilliant guide?

Oh and big thanks to Raven for the alchemy guides, lvl 13 now and 15 fishing, I got two birds with one stone and fished up yellow globes in Mhaura. Yellow globes cap fishing at 17 and are really easy to catch with just a lugworm. :)

Scudley

Mr. Scudley
Vig here, yeah, I found leveling smithing at lower levels while just running around mining was the cheapest way usually. I'm only 24 but I think the route I took was...

2- bronze ingots (fire: 3x copper ore, 1x tin ore)

4- bronze sheet (fire: 1x bronze ingot)

10- bronze scales (wind: 1x bronze sheet) (bronze sheets iirc were cheap to buy from the guild too)

15- tin ingot (fire: 4x tin ore) (tin ores are like 10gil each from the guild so just sat at guild in Bastok for this)

18-aspis (fire: ash lumber, 2x bronze sheet) (I had some bronze sheets left so did these for like a level and a half)

20- Iron ingot/Paktong ingot (fire: 4x iron ore/ fire: 2x copper ore 1x zinc ore 1x kopparnickel ore) (these levels just sort of happened while running around Oldton)

22- Iron Sheet (fire: 1x Iron ingot) (kept all iron ingots from before and did these)

26- Iron Scales (wind: 1x iron sheet)
And that's how far I got since don't need more atm. :)
