Diabloesque game - highly recommended

I tried this recently, but the character animations were so wooden I got a refund.

I missed dungeon siege the first time around and just picked it up, I'm enjoying it and for a for a fiver it isn't half bad.

Mind you if you don't mind the stilted graphics in sacred, the gold pack offers alot for a tenner.

Woah! It must be Sacred Day. Already gave it props today 10:45 for the start screen in the GW forum.

I remember being really excited about this game when it was due - Diablo-esque as you say. There were loads of networking problems though when it came out which prevented me from purchasing. I presume they have been ironed out now.

I would have thought that's a good buy for under a tenner if you've nothing better to do. :)

Didn't see that mate -sorry :)

I bought Sacred when it first came out and loved it and recommended it then. Forget what stopped me playing it then - some MMORPG or other came out.

They released, free, a big download add-on pack called Sacred Plus. Later they released the expansion, Sacred Underworld. Anyways, been playing it again for the last couple of weeks and bought the Gold pack earlier this week, which just adds Underworld for me, but at half the price.

I've bought and played Dungeon Siege 1 and 2 as well. Graphics are better in DS, but I wouldnt describe Sacred graphics as anything like poor.

Sacred definitely wins out in the game play stakes, especially medium and long term. Class wise, template build wise, equipment wise, boss wise, going through the games on increasingly difficult levels - Sacred wins on all those things for me. DS had them but somehow didn't capture the Diablo magic.

If anyone plays Sacred I'd recommend checking out the class forums above and getting a reasonable idea of what character build you are going for.

Of course, all this is null and void once we get Titan Quest in the near future, which the lead designer has openly admitted is Diablo 3 as no-one else was doing it (Brian Sullivan, incidentally, co-developer of Age of Empires). :D

Well Sacred was supposed to be D3 for a lot of people. I think you'll find a lot of chatter about it in alt.games.diablo/2 at the time.
I kinda lost the faith with the launch fiasco, and played FPS for a year, waiting endlessly for GW.

There are Titan quests in GW. Must be hard for game designers to come up with new titles/phrases ;) or maybe it was in-the-know gazumping.

I might give it a whirl again before chapt2 of GW comes out.

Just to underline its similarities to Diablo, there are some great class guides here, of which the most similar to D2 is probably the Wood Elf guide, including Ranged Multi-hit, reposted at the official forums. Screenshot of Multi-hit in action, here.

You create combo's, which you use with one key press as though it were one skill, encompassing multiple skills used at the same time.

Another nice difference is that you dont automatically get points to spend on skills; you find Runes dropped off monsters which are unique to each skill.

Tbh fer a tenner its worth a bash even just for a wee change. Not likely to stop playing DII but there are times when I want to play 'something' but not in the mood for DII.
Kinda liked DS for a bit, not quite sure why I stopped playing itif its going cheap these days too I might shell out for that too.
