Single player support to be good, local co-op supposed to work well, online as the comic above suggests :/

if you think of it as a console game, and you don't think of it as dungeon siege, the single player game is ok, not tried multiplayer yet, but if you do get it, i suggest you get a wired 360 pad for the PC, as it plays so much better with that as opposed to the keyboard/mouse.

what corwin said.
control scheme is abysmal for a pc game.

why yes thank you, i love having to use return and backspace to navigate your menus...
(though its not as bad as hunted in that respect - having menus that you go through using home and end :/)

it would be hard to argue otherwise, when you compare them to baldurs gate, planescape, kotor and fallout....

And as for Dragon age 2, mass effect 2? Definitely :p

...well I would argue :D

Not played DA2 or ME2, but I honestly don't see how DA1 or ME1 or even Fallout 3 are different than the older ones? The only difference I can see is that they are not isometric and are in 3D.

They all have long character dialogues, tons of items with nerdy stats, directed plot lines etc?

Same game mechanic - follow quest dialogue, choose your responses, fight monsters/enemies, set up your group's strategy, develop characters using stats and choosing abilities, fight, loot, upgrade items/craft from loot, move on to next encounter and so on.

Maybe you just don't like the new 3 types?

whether i like them or not isnt the issue - as it is, i like all 3 of the ones listed (completed them all at least twice, if not 3 or 4 times), i just dont think they're such 'deep' rpgs.
and by the time you get on to things like Hunted and DS3, which is really what my complaints about tbh (ie. the ones where they dont even make an effort to disguise the fact its been quickly ported from a console version, and all the controls are badly mapped), theres very little comparison. (again, they're both fun games in their own way, but i dont really think they're rpgs in the same way as BG and PST)

Tried the xbox demo of Dungeon Siege III last night -found it linear, dated and not much fun at all. No skill in killing, didnt even have to target anything, just press buttons and things died. Not one Ill be getting.

we were talking about this last night before our Dnd game kicked off. The consensus is the old gold box and Baldurs gate gave the best RPG experience.

Torchlight is a ok version of Diablo, ok not brilliant.

Anyone tried the daggerdale demo? - bloody awful!

I see what you are getting at Zeus, with Hunted etc being billed as a rpg.

All the RPG's that are coming out at the moment tend to pick up on one or two aspects of great games of the past, and then don't understand why its not as good (ignoring crappy rehashes that are coming through the wood works (i.e. DS3, Duke Nukem, even x-com))

You could lose your life to baldurs gate, or diablo. They had storyline, great gameplay mechanics, in depth skills/strategies, and then enough gameplay until you grew old. Everything is being simplified down so its gets a wider market of players, and its doing my head in lol. That and the fact that everything is a 2 weapon cover based shooter nowadays (CoD, Team fortress, Battlefield, Duke Nukem forever, even x-com when it comes out).

Seriously, I want a game with a manual that takes a week to read and makes me have to take days off work just to finish the tutorials :p

Have you tried the Hearts of Iron games? It has a manual you can beat whales to death with - and that only covers the very basics!
