Fallout RPG

OK, i'm thinking of running an RPG set in the Fallout universe. For those of you who've played the games, it'll probly be set around the brotherhood of steel somewhere (probably western). For those of you who have no idea what i'm on about, its a post-nuclear role playing game. To make sure we get a decent mix of charactors, and i get the right ones for the campaign i want to run, i'll generate the charactors and then let you choose who you want to play. I need to know who'd want to play this though.
It probly wont be a fast paced RPG, since i only rarely get to come on the internet, and i'm still learning the rules myself.
So, who wants to give it a go?

Hello Zeus,
I've not played post-nuclear before so I'd be interested in giving it a go. I probably couldn't manage to log on more than twice a week with my current commitments and have no idea of the game world or system but am willing to learn.

heya mate...I'd be interested in this system...I've played all of the fallout games, so I'd recognise the world, but it will be a cool stop-gap until fallout 3 (desperately waiting for it atm :) )

Ahh, i knew someone would ask this. If you go to www.iamapsycho.com/fallout/ and follow the fallout links, you can find the rules i'll be using.
Some of them i may end up changing slightly though.
And...i'm not sure you will recognise the world. For instance, in tactics you only see the Eastern brotherhood, not the main Western one.

Anyway, what i'm thinking is this. I assume you dont just want a pure combat one, since thats not really RPG... So, what i was planning on was a small squad consisting of 2 Paladins (warriors), a Knight (Engineer), and a Scribe (Scientist). This should lead to a balanced squad, that can fulfil many tasks. The problem with this though, is that it would mean they belonged to the Western brotherhood, in which case what weapons/armour/equipment they get is solely dependant on rank/level, ie. there is no money at all. This is why i say i'll modify the rules slightly.

Basically, for the purposes of this campaign, i'm going to keep the rough setting, use all the weapons rules, creature rules, and charactor creation, but set it to my own back story that doesnt fit with any of the histories and source texts that i pointed you at at the start of this message. :p

OK. It looks like theres 5 of you interested (at least vaguely) in this. I've decided to run it from the Western brotherhood, with 3 paladins 1 knight and 1 scribe.
I'm not sure what exactly each one will be specialised in. (well, obviously the knight and scribe arnt too difficult), But it seems likely that they'll be a heavy weapons guy, a demolitions guy, and a sniper.
If any of you have any preference on which one you play, i'd recomend you mention it soon as i'll hand them out on a first come first served basis. You should remember that althoguh a scribe isnt much use in a fight, he will be very useful in an overall mission due to abilities such as computers and trading. And a knight will be needed to repair stuff, and drive vehicles. So each role will have something to do.

Having looked at some more information, it appears theres an updated skills set anyway, so i'll be using that. It nicely covers The general ideas i wanted, and is probably easier to understand. I may still keep the individual weapon specialisation though.

Probly best to ignore the rest of this message, as its now irrelevant.

OK, there is one further change i will make.
Although each of you will have skills in Small arms, Heavy Weapons or Energy Weapons, (the paladins especially) You will also have a skill with a particular Type of weapon (eg. sniper rifle, shotgun, pistol, heavy machine gun), and with a particular gun (eg. .50 caliber browning MG, Dragunov Sniper rifle). The effect of this will be, that using a type of weapon you have a skill with will yield a 5% bonus to hit, and using the particular gun will yield another 10%. (note that your particular gun will be a gun of the type your good with.). Also, at level ups you will have the choice to put some of your skill points into increasing these %'s, in order to become even more skilled with particular types of gun. (for instance, 1 upgrade point could be used to increase your skill with all small guns by 1%, or with shotguns by 2%, or with a remington 12 guage by 3%)
This is to represent the fact that for instance your used to the recoil on this gun.
You will have a chance to add another gun or gun type at about lvl 10 or so, and i might let you do some training or something earlier than that that lets you specialise in another gun/gun type.

If anyone has any objections to this rule, please mention them, but i think it makes for a more balanced team if you cant all just pick up heavy machine guns and blast the hell out of everything with browning .50 cals.

I could do with some confirmations from the rest of you as well btw.... (will send out messages tomorrow probly)

I've even got a rough campaign sorted out for you :)

yeah sure. Pick a charactor. I'm not sure who's playing anyway.
Anyone who wants to join in after these 5, i've got plenty of ways to get new chars here, dont worry about that.

dont worry, its my first time GMing :)

Dont worry too much about the rules. Knowing me i'll end up changing half of them anyway. A lot of it'll be combat, but there will be more RPG sections to it too. And i guess we'll have to include situations for entropy to **** someone/something/things. hmm...actually, that could play right into my hands for one of the scenes i want :).
