Freakin' slow installer

Why does WoW installer take about 30 minutes to copy data off 4 CD's?
I'll have a guess that its having to reconstruct larger than CD sized files, thus using some CPUage up, but still ... copy it all to disk first ffs, so I can walk away and let it get on with it!!

Anyone know if you can download the installer in one file, ala the beta file, dont care if it still needs patching after that, just want to be able to put it on a dvd.

Thanks :)

+ on one computer I've tried to install WoW on, the installer got stuck, never asking for the 2nd disc (this is probably a fault with the alienware comp tho, currently back with them for repair for 3rd time!) However I expect a single install file would be better all round

You should be able to.

Or, it may be worth, once you have installed, bburn teh wow directory to a dvd. The game plays fine if you just copy the contents around.

My main machine is still running off my original closed beta version. If you have that lying around you should just be able to use that, it's certainly my preference over the 30 minute cd swap fun.

Don't have beta file, damn, however will try Chick's suggestion, may need some compression, think directory was over 5GB last time I checked
