From beta to release

Can the beta client be updated for release or do we need to uninstall and reinstall with the release disks?

I tried looking on the D3 forums but couldn't find any info on this.

Nope. but if you go to Diablo.incgamers.com they have links to predownload the clients.

...which personally, i think is really silly. ah well, hopefully my ce will arrive on monday so i can get it all patched and ready by midnight :/

It's also available on the Battle.net site. I've now got a 'Diablo 3 starter edition' account and I can download the client from that.

Although you can download the client you can't install it yet apparently

The client is encrypted and doesn't unlock until Monday when you can install and patch, prior to release.

Blizzard are trying to keep spoilers to a minimum until release which may be one of the reasons for not allowing people to use the beta client for release. If you could download the full game into the beta client, you'd be able to data mine it.

though apparently, people that have the CE already (bah!) have watched the 'making of' videos, and it gives away a bunch of the ending... so i'd be careful on the blizz forums if i were you!

Aye, they warned people not to watch that stuff of read the book until after they play.

They also warned people they'd get bitch slapped for posting unmarked spoilers.
