The "new" version of BT online, BTYahoo! is now at opt in stage, however the "old" service will be phased out and there won't be any choice, among other things hidden away from your eyes is the "minimum specs" that you will need to go online!!!!

What are the minimum system requirements?

The minimum system requirements are:

Windows 98, 98 Se, 2000, ME, XP
Microsoft Explorer 5.0
32Mb RAM for 98 and ME or 64Mb RAM for 2000 and XP
256 Color monitor with 800x600 resolution
35Mb Available hard disk space

Great hey... it even gets better :

Will I lose all my bookmarks and my old browser if I download the new one?

As part of your upgrade to the BT Yahoo! Broadband service, you will be provided with an improved custom-built browser. This browser cam import bookmarks from Internet Explorer, so you won't lose your favourite sites.

Oh it gets better!

The new browser is ****e so our lad goes back to the Great Bill Gates version of IE.
Unfortunatly you can now only open 1 window, no more multi tasking in IE for BT folks!
So we rings the customer services (based in India of course) and what piece of dazzling info did they impart?
Uninstall the new BT Yahoo!.:p

I hate browser branding. Every time I install BT ADSL I just set up a dialup networking component manually instead of installing all that extra crap :)

When I left BT Openworld they lowered my account to BTYahoo! and the amount of spam I got went up from 1 mail a month to 12 everyday. glad I have my own domain name since I was able to shift my mail account to a different server and get shot of all the spam. Goodbye BTO and good riddens.
