I am interested in a number of US tv series and so far I have waited until they are out on DVD in the UK and bought them there, but there are a few that I really want to watch as soon as they come out, but legally.

A friend of mine was his with an 800 Euro cease and desist letter for downloading The Walking Dead illegally and that amount of money would buy a lot of legal tv, so I am wondering whether anybody knows of any legal watch to watch US tv from this side of the pond.

Well you can generally get series passes on iTunes so I assume the other streaming online things do something similar, not sure which is best, haven't really looked as I just use old fashioned sky.

Roch, I thought iTunes contained a code that indicates where in the world you are set up. My niece has an account and cannot see any current tv shows for download, only shows that have already been on tv in Germany.

Cull, I want to avoid doing that. As I said, a friend of mine was fined 800 Euro for downloading a tv episode. There has to be some legal way of downloading tv shows...

no there is no 100% legal way of doing that, the nearest way would be to use something like unblock-us to fool netflix into thinking that you live in the usa

You sure this was a real cease and desist? I know of alot of companies sending these out to scare people into paying money. Although it could've changed now that ISPs were forced to come on board with monitoring and passing customer data to authorities and such.

I did not keep track over what happened after he told me. I could ask him tomorrow at work if I do not forget it.

I thought that over here they had to send out warning letters first? I'm sure that was the original plan although it may well have changed.

yeah, thats why I'm a bit suspect. I remember with torrents, a company was legally obtaining information in Germany, and then sending letters to people in the UK saying "you've downloaded xxxxxx, pay xxx or we'll take you to court". I know alot of people who just paid up not realising in the UK, its illegal to obtain such information. That whole innocent until proven guilty thing. Or something along those lines.
