Daleks again :(

The Daleks need a good episode. There has only been only been one good one since the show returned and that was in the Chris E first series. Apart from the stone Dalek that cameo'd at the end of series 5 - all the other Dalek episodes have been disappointing. I'm hoping after tonight that will change!

I wish a lightbulb would go on in the writers minds - "Less is more" where Nemesi like the Dalek and Cybermen are concerned. It's one of the first thing they should learn at drama writer school.

At least it would lead to less whining about Daleks and less whining about whining about Daleks.

I doubt that, I got a levels in Whining ;)
I reckon I have a right to expect them to do it "well" though, after investing about 48 years watching the friggin' thing.

Ok I liked that! Jenny Louise Coleman (or whatever her name was) was a total surprise as she isn't supposed to debut till the Christmas special - and her role and twist was great! And she seemed like a really great character, well acted as well!

Rory and the eggs, hehe!

That was the best episode I can remember in a long time.

I wasn't sure that she was the new assistant but spent most of the episode thinking she'd make a great one. The further it got to the end, I was thinking she couldn't be the new assistant as you could tell something bad was going to happen to her.

I just hope that when they introduce her properly they do something better than the "oh it's just a different point in time" thing and that they don't change her personality as she was fantastic.

The Christmas episode where the Doctor 'meets' her is set in the Victorian era.
Whether she will show up again before then, who knows. Next weeks looks like a marmite episode.

I really liked it, Moffat can really write so well . . . a focus of a very different spin on daleks, a focus on the doctor being clever/being destructive, a focus on the characters' developments/Ponds' marriage . . . it was an intertwined and interesting episode that felt "fresh" too.

PS : Watched it again on iplayer and I really am liking it. :p

Daleks have always scared the life out of me. That episode was so scary. Red Daleks!! OMG. Always wondered if there were poorly Daleks or what happened to the ones the Dr had injured.
Ok dinosaurs in this episode looks a bit pants, but we'll see :)

Cant wait till the Xmas episode. I like Ms Pond but it is time she moved on :D

Rubbish episode and I hate the stupid slapstick.....I guess I was spoiled by Chris Ecclestons Dr.

What!? Eccleston suffered though the worst of RTD campiness - remember the Slitheen, Annie Robinson bot, Mickey being eaten by a bin etc, etc!!!

Granted tonight's was hardly a high mark (hated the dinosaur riding!) but there have been much worse...

True, but I preferred his Dr, much darker/serious slant than what we have now....another Sylvestor mcoy

I agree Ecleston portrayed that side of the Doctor better, when the script allowed him (of which there were about 3 episodes during his one season run). But certainly since it's return - the Doctors adventures do swerve between the more serious episodes and the daft campy one. As I said Eccleston was much better at the serious stuff than the camp, Tennant was the opposite - but I think Matt Smith is the happy medium, able to do the episodes like last night and the much more serious drama both with aplomb.

And the greatest DR of all, Mr Tom Baker, and indeed the joint second best (With Mat Smith) Mr John Pertwee, weren't averse to a bit of humour and occasional slapstick. If done correctly and not to excess, i'faith it isn't such a bad thing. Yet to see this seasons 2 episodes, looking forwards to catching up today. ( oh and the prequel youtube mini episodes)
