Anyone got one or know a site where I can found out if running one in the UK is possible and if so what is needed?

They have a 110-240v PSU mate so people I know with one just used a standard three pin lead.

Japanese Blu-Ray movies as well you will be limited to, if you get a US one at least you'll be able to import US movies and watch those.

hhhmmmm good point - maybe I will pick one up next time in the US - then again I will probably do both.

Europe is always screwed over by Sony (and the rest) over priced less for more ie no emotion engine etc etc,But im pretty sure there one other difference between usa and jap PS3 over a euro one that everyone seems to be forgotten about.I think the jap and usa have same region coding poss only on the blue ray movie part,but worth checking out just to be shure what happens if you stick a usa movie in a jap machine it dosent throw up jap menus .

Did anyone catch the news report yesterday or monday where sony are now going after the importers of Japanese / US versions to 'protect the EU community'

There are other issues apparently the online shop thingy wont work in the EU if you have a Jap model. Doubt that makes a huge difference though.

I think not being able to spend 50p on a new t-shirt to wear in the world that is "Home" is a bonus of having a US/Jap one rather than a negative

They've been banning importers for a while. One of them went out of business because of it.

People I know who have imported a Japanese version can access the US, Jap and HK shops. Apparently you can create a new account for each region and shop there from wherever you are. Not sure what will happen with the EU shop.

Friends have them. You might need a stepdown converter but maplin sells them for a few quid.

Japan and USA are in the same region for movies and games. So you'll prolly be better off =)

A/1 North America, Central America, South America, Japan, North Korea, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Southeast Asia.

PS3 games aren't region locked supposedly, so your jap/us PS3 will happily play UK PS3 games
