And I'm still at work ... :(

Arse biscuits

Read the manual online, so I know most of what I need to, now to try and get out of work on time and get playing ! (I do hope Talili and I will be able to play the whole thing co-op)

Had a riot with it last night, had a little play online this morning and had fun, even though I didn't understand what the idea of the skateboard was, and if it was meant to have vision blurring or it was the PS3 lagging.

Love the flexabilty of it, not sure I like the fact I know I'm missing things as I've not fully completed a level, I guess it's just stickers I'm missing but if I end up not being able to make something in my own level as I'm missing something basic it would be annoying, that said I'm not sure tthe building blocks are hidden, time will tell I guess.

Either way I highly recommend it to people with a PS3, my PSN ID is "chinfolk" if you want to hook up in game or just mock my creations when I get around to making them ;)

2 down sides were though, two patches when I first put the disc in which took just over an hour, and then a PS3 update this morning which took 45 minutes .... maybe I wouldn't mind if it wasn't so slow to download like a 45Mb file, something I assume you don't suffer on the 360 as you pay for a better service.

The game though is great, even though it did take me a few minutes to work out how to get the spring eye things off my sackboy after sticking them on by accident !

BTW you using wireless to download the patches?

My brother seems to suffer this as well, but I can download gigs in minutes.

Aye wireless, PC, mac and 360 download at a good speed on wireless, even the Wii (though I don't think those things will be as big generally anyway), the PS3 though takes ages, I will try it wired when we swith to Virgin as going to get the wireless router installed by the TV

Yes-ish, in the same way you could describe Sushi to someone as "mainly rice"

At it's core it is indeed a platformer with puzzles, stickers, skateboards, you run around, jump, grab onto things, swing around, pull things, push things. But I think what really makes it stand out is all the tools that are used in a level are available right there in the game to you, you see a massive skateboard jump a ravine and think it's cool, you can recreate it and improve it if you feel the urge.

So consider it more perhaps a level editor, creature editor, item designer, platform game. People for example have already re-created side scrolling shooters in it, a physical calculator (has to be seen to be believed, that person had too much time on there hands), tetris, and more

So yes, it's a platform game, but to just consider it that is doing it a dis-service.

So can people make new little games from it and distribute them over PS3's online network?

Aye, you create a level and then publish it in the game so it's availble to anyone (might be able to also just release to friends, not 100% sure on that)

At it's core tho it is a platformer, but as you can see from the vids Morgyn linked up, the tools in game allow alot of possibilities

That's the calculator one

Started on My Moon, built a few very basic things (no mechanisms yet so it's all blobs of different material). Had quite alot of fun just making a stick man I could climb up and then make fall one way or the other dependant on which way I pulled him. And then made a circle with an inner circle I could jump in and run/pull to make the thing move one way or another :)

Can't wait till I unlock the mechanisms, and it's nice having it all explained to me by Stephen Fry

Has anyone finished all the My Moon tutorials ? I've been taking them slowly and making fun things in a small level as practise but only just learnt about springs and was wondering just how many more bits there are.

Fun things I've made so far:
- A draw bridge that goes up and down (I'm sure I can improve it when I get the "switch" bit so I can stand on it to send it down or something
- A basic swing to just grab on and swing to and fro (still have so much fun on it, it's silly. Only issue I've seen is trying to reduce the size of the swing the whole thing just falls apart, but hey
- A horse that tries to follow me around (need to tweak more the leg things, not really happy with them at the moment)

Not yet made the buggy that I want to but still waiting to unlock the level tool so I can make it drive forward/back

Really enjoying it, but reading up on the number of user made levels that are modded (read that as totally deleted, so if you spend 10 hours building a level and they mod it you lose EVERYTHING .....) I'm not publishing anything yet, but think I will make a very simple one just for a giggle over the weekend, something silly like a lift taking you up as high as possible then a massive ramp to zoom my buggy down and jump it :)

What are other people finding / up to ?

must admit, i am intrigued by this.
is it something you can play as a bit on the side while doing something else, or do you have to concentrate on it? (eg. i play r6:vegas (or more recently, bejewelled, but lets not go into that...) while waiting for nubs to turn up to raids or run back from wipes - will i be able to do that with lbp, or does it take more effort than that?)
