Legend of the Seeker question.

Nothing I would guess since in the book the confessors power had no effect on richard as he already loved Kahlan.

It seems that the power as described in the book latches onto what love exists within a person and magnifies it until, directing it at the confessor, they become all consumed by total love for the confessor.

So once confessed they had unconditional love for the confessor, another confessor couldnt find any love to take.

In Richards case he was naturally in total love for Khaylen so there was nothing that could be taken and turned into the power.

In an odd way i prefer the way they depict it in the tv series though :)

Also, in the books, Kahlan is the last living Confessor so it could never happen.

But yes, the idea is that even the most vile and evil person has some tiny spark of love within them (even if it's just for themselves or torturing small, furry animals) and a Confessor's power magnifies this vastly and directs it all at the Confessor.

I would have thought that it would just be transferred. Though from Brophy's story even being changed into a wolf didn't lessen it. So maybe having all ones love 'claimed' already it can't be claimed by another. Using that logic though if Confessor A's power is weaker than Confessor B's, Confessor B should be able to overcome the previous jolt.

As Aggy says its a bit of a moot point :)
