U2 singer is hoping to organise the event next summer, backed by Prime Minister Tony Blair.
Forgive me for starting to seem cynical at this pointt hat this is littke more than a popularist stunt......
... Bob Geldof, who organised the 1985 event, could also be involved this time around. However, hes issued a statement saying he wont be taking part.
He said: I told the Sun this afternoon it was not true. This only serves to undermine the concerted efforts of those concerned with the tragedy of poverty in Africa. However, if the Prime Minister wants to organise a Live Aid II, then good luck to him."
Looks like he's not the only person seem cynical about it.
Wouldn't it be easier to raise the money direct by these "caring, sharing musicians"* to, to give an example, give all of their money to charities direct.
Oh, hold on a minute, thats going to sell them less records than turning up on stage and proving, on millions of TV's, DVD's and computer screens that they are 'all about the people'. My mistake.
*1: There are exception, they want nothign to do with the event.
