I've just finished my first run through Mass Effect 2.

At first the new controls were a tad irritating, and having the Mako missions dropped was a bit dissapointing, but once I got into it I enjoyed it.

The mining for resources bit is strange, it's kind of boring but addictive....

The story line was entertaining and I found that I wanted to carry on playing.

I'd definitely recommend it to anyone that enjoyed the first one, just don't expect it to be the same.

Oh and Miranda is teh hawt.... and if you can get the Salarian Scientist to sing HMS Pinafore it's teh w1n :)

Looking forward to getting into it over the weekend.
I hear you import your save-games from the old one, but it basically takes your moral choices and not stats - which get remodelled a short while in?

You can import your saved games from ME1 and your choices from that game do influence the environment in ME2, depending on when you finished it last you might not actully remember those choices :)

Depending on your level you finised ME1 you will get more money, resources and paragon/renegade points to start ME2 with.

You don't start with exactly the same character as you ended the first game with for reasons you'll see when you start playing :)

Also, they've stated that the choices you make in ME2 will have a big influence on ME3.

That's good - I only completed it once with one guy, and sort of drifted through making random choices in a alcoholic haze. I wonder how nice I was.....

Only reecently got an Xbox and picked up ME1 the other day but not played it yet.

Should I play that before picking up ME2?

I would cathral, like Roch Says there are a lot of Storyline choices that follow you into ME2, just about to finish it myself and really enjoyed it so far, disapointed with my Paramour choice though, wish i'd gone with Miranda, or maybe a 3some with some of the others >:)

its pretty fun. theres things i miss from ME1 (apparently i'm one of the few that actually enjoyed hunting round for better armour for my team members, and the fun of getting a new weapon drop, and trying to balance its heat requirements with mods... meh...) but theres things i'm glad to see the back of too (hai2u mako crap).

i have the edition from play.com with the terminus armour, and although it looks ace, it makes it kinda hard to justify wearing any other armour, so i've looked the same for the entire game. also, it makes it a bit odd when people recognise me - aside from the fact i look completely different anyway as i decided i didnt like the face i had before, i'm wearing a fully-enclosed helmet anyway :p liara kissing me when we met was amusing for similar reasons :p

I'm working through ME1 as I didn't finish it the first time so will pick it up after.

There's no dodgy DRM in this one either, I believe...

Finally got started last night.
I like most of it. Graphics are predictably good, interface is friendly and similar.
I just wish there is a way to turn off the huge achievement spam.

achievement spam i dont mind - it doesnt happen often (except at the begining, when your getting ones for stuff like 'headshot' and 'burned an enemy to death').

i'm not sure how far through i am - i suspect theres a lot i havnt done, but then i'm not sure i want to spend days scanning empty worlds :p for now i'm doing missions when i can concentrate, and scanning worlds while i'm watching tv or whatever.
i've recruited most of my team, and have got a lovely heavy machine gun, that makes mowing down enemys very satisfying indeed :p. i still wish there were more weapon choices like in ME1 though - i guess the arguement is that many of them wernt really a 'choice' since they were so much better/worse that the others you could get.

Just bought this :) Pretty good atm!
Having problems logging into Cerberus though.. cant use my DLC.
Keeps asking for a guardian email, then it give me some bloomin error message about communication with the ME server has timed out..
so it wont auth my content :(
anyone have this too?

Gah, I played it for 11 hours straight yesterday.. (Granted 5 min breaks to make tea etc.. etc..)

Still cant log into Cerberus, bloomin thing, cant seem to find any info about it either :(
