PSP only which is my big gripe, but I've always liked the sound of the Monster hunter games, anyone with a PSP planning on getting this (out tomorrow) ?

Well HMV online was a pain, but phoned up the local store and they have two Monster Hunter Freedom Unite bundles in stock. So I'm a few hours from breaking my promise to myself and owning a PSP. But if the game is half what I'm hoping for it'll be worth it !

If you own a Wii which I seem to recall you do? Your much better waiting for MH3 it's out August in Asia and I doubt a European/American version will be that long behind. If you can't wait might be better picking up a cheap copy of the PS2 version of the original MH I would expect it to work on the PS3, although you may want to check that out first. Better than buying a PSP for one game that'll be out of date in a few months.

Wii is in mothballs for the move, and I'm very bad at waiting for things, PS3 is on loan to a mate for the move, and I'm very bad at waiting

PSP will be useful to play the game alot while in the flat and play at weekends when Talili is busy.

I should really wait but now I'm all excited by the "new gadget" buzz before the purchase

PSP Go = tax on the even more stupid, the whole rave stuff about downloadable content already exists and will work exactly the same on all existing PSP's, this is already confirmed. It has painful controls from all reviews I've read, silly positioned off (maybe start) switch, equal battery life to the current 3003 but with a small screen, though stuff I've read tends to suggest it will be less. And best of all you know you'll be paying through the nose for all the space you'll need to store you downloaded media.

Don't get me wrong the download stuff is a huge step forward, but the device I think is worse, and the media for such a device should be stonkingly huge. If the whole advantage is downloaded games you really need those games on hand for holidays and such.

Talking of which, loving the PSP so far, enjoying what little I've played of the game, Disliking Sony as ever, a bundle, to play a game, a PSP, a charger (short cable or what, following in Apple's mouse footsteps), no USB cable at all, liking the Monster hunter case (though I'd have prefered a hard one), liking putting the UMD in, and the wi-fi switch, and then the game started ..... no memory card to create a save game, do you want to continue ? Hold on a bundle to play a game where saving is kind of key, and no memory at all ? Check the box, no, no memory at all, so ordered memory now from play.com and will have to wait before can play it properly :( (or goto the kodak shop in town and see how much they charge)

Sony you are full of arse-biscuits !

On the plus side HMV in Harlow had two in stock so Talili has one as well :)

Played it till about 1AM with no save, and really enjoyed it, only issue I found was I seemed to easily be able to drop stuff on the floor but then couldn't pick it up again :/ will read the instructions properly once I have a memory card

Wearing pants, reluctantly.
No bundled memory card? No usb? Damn they've gone downhill from launch. I got both with mine.

And the powercable was plenty long for me, or have they changed that too? Recommend gettting a usb charge/data cable from ebay, they are awesomes.

mains cable is long enough to go from a plug on the floor to the sofa right next to the plug, well the arm of the sofa, if you wanted to play like that it would be painful after about 20 mins, enough to get it setup though and updated via the UMD.

Ordered 2 x 2gb memory cards that enough do you reckon ? for all the monster hunter downloads, the save and probably the game install option to make it faster loading.

I was originally gonna get 2 PSP 2000's, but as then I couldn't even find a shop or online place with MH in stock I didn't.

Gonna play it a little more tonight though, just abit of a pain that as I play I know none of my progress is saved ... infact maybe I should wait for the memory card

The USB cable is a pain, but it is at least a standard one so I have loads kicking around once the move is done, but the memory card was the real shocker, a bundle with a game and you can't actually play the game with the bundle, yet they do include a crappy sticky to put on the front of the PSP (never use that), some badge thing and a decent enough pouch to lug the PSP around with.

AH-HA !!!

I dropped meat, you can't pick meat up, you put it down to attract monsters. To quote Electric Leo from capcomeurope:

"If you're talking about dropping your meat, you can't pick it back up It's there as bait for large monsters. Congalala will stop and eat your meat, for instance. Then you SMASH HIS STUPID FACE IN."

:D

I want my memory card NOW !
