More DIII Beta Keys

I think my ISP filters out stuff but I don't get to see it - my Thunderbird junk/spam is empty in any event.

Is there some other way to see if I've been sent an invite? I can't see anything on my battle.net account which seems a little odd to me.

I'm in the same boat unfortunately - happy to wait until 2013 / 2014 ish when they release it though as SWTOR is sucking my life away at the moment, in a very happy way.

your battlenet account will be updated to have a D3 entry allowing you to download the beta client if you have been activated to play.

It is fun - in a very clicky way.

Yes, lots of fun. A bit consoley (why is that not a real word..?) but quite addictive. You don't have much say in what skills and stats you have so I doubt that it will have quite the staying power of D2 but it's slick and clever - a brilliant game imho.

Cheers

well, you dont at low levels i'll grant you, but at high levels? you'll essentially be picking 6 from 20, and putting runes in them to change them too... thats quite a choice, imo.
i'm not playing the beta much tbh, as well... theres 2 things to play a beta for:
- looking for problems. i dont think theres any real need for this, as its already vastly more polished than any game i've played in the last 2 years.
- as a demo. i'm not keen on the 'keep replaying the start of a game' style of demo, mostly because it serves to make that part of the game a bit dull when you come to do it for real, but also because it feels like a bit of a waste of time.

but, its done well as a demo - its confirmed that i want to buy the game (and the Collector's Edition if it ever comes to UK shops... happen to know anything about that, Guy?), and meant that i know in advance that i dont like Witchdoctors (rather than just thinking i wouldnt) :p.

I love the witchdoctor! and the demon hunter. So far im not sold on the Wizard and havent really tried the monk yet. Guess ill finish this run on the demon hunter and try a monk out.

:)

But im not playing much either for pretty much the same reasons

Barb is so easymode you can snooze. Monk on the other hand takes a bit more thought and seems to be an easier kill for the monsters. Not given the other 3 enough attention yet, but liked both the above so far.

I think they've got the balance between the different classes about right. I'm not that keen on the witchdoctor but then again I could never really get into necromancers in D2. All the rest have been great fun.

Really looking forward to the game now, especially since my integrated graphics seem perfectly adequate even on high settings - I might not even need to buy a dedicated graphics card :).

I started off loving the Witch Doctor but I've been liking it less as beta has gone on. I suspect I will enjoy it at higher levels though.

Barb is quite fun, Monk is OK and I really didn't like the Wizard until I tried playing a melee Wizard which is way more fun.

Demon Hunter is awesome.

I really don't get all the dumbing down, easy mode and console comments that keep floating around.

It's Diablo. You click on things. They die. You click on things they drop. Rinse and repeat. It's not exactly rocket science and the only way to dumb that down more is to have the game play itself whilst you watch.

Stats choices were removed as people would either gimp their chars or take enough Str to equip items, perhaps enough Dex to block, no Energy and everything else in Vit. Now you can't gimp your chars and you get the right stats for whatever.

Skill points were removed as people either gimp their chars or pick the few skills they want and put points in them (and their pre-reqs/synergies). Now you can't gimp your char, you pick the few skills you want and they perform pretty much as they would if you'd put the relevant skill points in the relevant places.

From what I can see, people are complaining about the removal of choice when the choice they made was always pretty much the same.

- Good news! As pretty much everyone chooses to breathe, we're removing your choice of whether or not to breathe.

- Noooooooo! I must be allowed to choose.

- So, if we let you choose to breathe or not, what will you do?

- Breath, of course. It's the best thing to do.

- So you haven't lost anything other than a meaningless choice?

- But what if I want to hold my breath until I pass out just to make life more challenging!

- .............

The beta content is out levelled before you reach level 10. It's easy at the start to draw people in and let them learn the basics and gets even easier once you're still playing the same shit after you were supposed to be a few miles down the road. I saw some comments recently saying that at high levels, if you wander off or your party doesn't wait for you whilst you're in town then you die, they die or both. Sounds good to me.

Yup, seriously investigating the possibility--even have a team actively working on researching it. It won't be a straight port though.

Torchlight on the xbox was pretty much identical to the PC version I thought.
Admittedly it is nowhere as good graphically.

Is there definitely not going to be any sort of lobby to abuse fellow players in?

We could always do it here? ..you git.

But a chat room would be quite nice, I agree. I suspect there's something but we just haven't found it yet?

Cheers

well, i assume, because they'll be cesspools of spam and flaming. especially in this modern age of internet. its not like back in D1, or even D2 to a lesser extent, where most people on b'net are basically nice people... most people (or at least, the most *vocal* people) online are racist sexist morons.
i know that when i'm playing any mmo, i hardly ever look in general because its so full of crap i dont want to read, why should a company dedicate time and resources to policing that sort of environment?
