I am looking to run some cable through the attic to network the living room to the router in the bedroom. Powerline adapters dont work so looking at running a cable through.

Anyone know a good site to order the cable, tools etc from which wont break the bank?

I'd have thought you can get a crimper and the RJ-45 ends, wall boxes and whatnot form Maplin. Not really sure where to get the cable from - it either seems to come in pre-cut cables or 300m rolls - which are 50quid ish.

Last box of cat5 cable I bought was about 100 for 300 feet (i think). Screwfix probably sell the tools (B&Q do too).
A set of back boxes \ modules should cost no more than 20 quid.
I was given my Krone tool by our data cable contractor, but Maplis have these for about 15 I'd think.
If you want to put plugs on the ends - a cheap crimper will probably do the job, but I ended up replacing my cheapo for an expensive one after about 6 months of light use (it's still going strong and cost about 80 5 years ago). Biggest outlay by far will be the cable.

ps - cant you borrow the tools from work? (after all, you do work for a teleco :)).

Yes the tools will be borrowed form work and the connectors will probably be "found" too :p

Its mainly the cable I was looking at as its only 1 cable I am looking to make but its about 30 metres and will probably plug into another router which I will use as a repeater.

Bugger, just saw this, I've got about 200m of cat 6 infrastructure cable in the loft, I'd have happily cut you a bit off and posted it down. It's left over from when I cabled the house.
