Neverwinter Nights.. again

Twas about a year ago that I (and Zed) tried to get a Neverwinter Nights campaign up an running. It died a death then due to lack of interest, but I for one would be up for some regular sessions.

Anyone else interested in this? I think I still have the ClanUK Village with a training dungeon on my server, with links to a campaign setting that we were going to run.

Was a lot of work setting this up, so unless there is a core support for this, I guess it will be a non-starter.

That would also depend what updates you'd got I remember once playing on something Byzah had setup and having a good laugh and also occasionally visiting a few other player made places but when the first expansion came out I could no longer join anyone who had got the expansion.

There are plenty of modules that only need the original game and the CEP (Community Expansion Pack download). In fact some of the classic D&D modules fall into this catagory if all we need is a quick hit. If we want a regular campagin I think NWN and the two expansions would be best though.

Lets see where we are after a week and take it from there?

I doubt I'd have the time, but I did get as far as making a half-decent mod for this if you guys want to have a bash through it...

It looks at though there maybe enough interest then ;), if we stick to pure NWN without the expansions as most of you only seem to have the original game.

Next question is do we want a DM'd game or are we happy to download and play some multiplayer mods without a DM?

Personally I would love to do a DM'd role playing regular campaign, but that's down to commitment from eveyone. Like I mentioned if we have a core few regular players, with others dropping in from time to time perhaps a weekly or fortnightly campaign is possible.

So who is up for which option?

PS Perhaps this thread should be moved as well.

NWN: Eye of the Beholder

Had a quick dabble last night with this, and it seemed impressive.

Eye of the Beholder Module. Epic Edition v2

You all are truly in for a treat; I must have played and completed the original Eye of the Beholder from SSI\Westwood Studios 8 times. Every time was just as fun as the first time. This was my driving force to re-create Eye of the Beholder. The Never Winter Nights tool set was suited perfectly for this task, so my task began the day came out, last June.

Eye of the Beholder can be played as a single player MOD it was balanced for 1 to 4 players. Each of the 12 levels has been recreated from the original maps used in the 1991 version created by Westwood Studios, along with 1 SECRET LEVEL. Aside from slight differences, if you have the original Clue book for EOB you will be able to follow the clue book to help you complete the game.

I have also added new content and some new side quest in EOB to keep up with the NWN engine and game play, also to make it more interesting for you hard core players. This Mod can take up to 30 or more hours to complete.

You will also find 6 new Henchman that have been created just for Eye of the Beholder. Find them and use them, they will be one of your greatest assets in the game when you are fighting for your life.

There are over 25 quests in Eye of the Beholder that will need to be completed in order to complete the game correctly. Don't rush through the maps or you will miss out on over 200 new magical items that have been added to the game. There are also 14 set items that have been specially created for Eye of the Beholder. There are 3 items per set and they are geared towards a specific class, there are also 4 sets that are universal set items geared towards fighter classes or magic classes. This is why you should take great care in searching each map.

I hope you will enjoy Eye of the Beholder as much as I did making it. It took me 6 long hard months of non stop work to make this MOD come to life. I spent considerable time adding eye candy and special effects and sounds on each level to make the games environment very detailed and more enjoyable.

This MOD has been Beta tested at least 8 times completely from start to finish, and more testing just on each of the levels to make sure that the game balance was correctly done.

I want to give Special thanks to my friends for all the long weekends of play testing that we did over the last 3 months. Thanks Guys!

I think you will find this MOD to be very challenging and a lot of fun.

So Enjoy!

So if I, or someone else, puts this up on a server for tomorrow (Wednesday) evening, any takers? It doesnt need any of the expansions to play. It has been balanced for 4 players, but it can handle more. So.. Have we got any takers, and you don't need any of the expansions just the original NWN.

If you want to play please post with your intended Character/Class etc, and state if you would like to roleplay through this or just hack/slash through it. This will take a few evenings to complete either way.

Edit: I have just tested this on a server and it loads fine and will allow more than 4 players.

We should really move this thread ;)

One of the mod I looked at quite a lot was the penultima mod, has about 7 or so addons to it, but that beholder one I read yesturday too looks kinda fun, and I'd definately be up for it tonight..

I'm free tonight too from 7pm gmt, where do we want to meet ? on teamspeak or something 1st?

I installed NWN last night and it did an 80Mb patch so ppl may need to do this before starting so give some extra time for the download. If necessary I could download it here and pop it on one of our web servers as an alternate download site if needed (only during daytime though so let me know).

I'll post the IP address of the server and the password around 7.30 for you to log in and create characters for an 8pm start... if anyone turns up...

After character creation you will end up in a 'holding' room with Billy the Beholder. He will give you some information, but please don't ask him portal you until everyone is there....
