Discuss in no more than 100 words the following:

I should spend an extra 68.01 on the GX 680SC because...

(still cant decide on form factor but i think im pretty close now)

If you can afford it, do it, otherwise don't. Simples :)

You're never going to regret buying too much GPU power....

ive been looking (again, and again) at the specs on Scan - and as much as i like the Sniper with its small formfactor im leaning towards this beast instead because the cost is similar for a better spec:

RC-1100 V2 Cosmos S Sport
Intel Core i7 3770K,
Asus Sabertooth Z77
8Gb (2x4Gb) Corsair Vengeance LP
2GB EVGA GTX 680 SC
650W Corsair Enthusiast Series
120GB Corsair Force 3
1TB HDD
DVD drive (no reason to be blu ray i can see)

1480.00 to the door. Its a little higher than i wanted to pay but as my Dell lasted 4yrs im hoping this has 4yrs in it too. thing im worried about now is the sixe of the Cosmos :)

The Cosmos S case is a full tower case, the same size as the original Cosmos.

It's big but it'll still fit under a desk. The Cosmos 2 doesn't fit under a desk.... see the picture!

Nice. Now to order the bugger. The missus has tempted me by giving me the money early - but its my Xmas pressie. So dilemma

Order now, use it, nothing to unwrap on Xmas day
Order later, swear a lot, have something to unwrap Xmas day.

Argh

Check the power-on hours for the 1TB. If it's a Seagate I think they list about 2,400 power on hours.

they do and this is a per year number, thir MBTF is 0.75million hours or roughly 85 years.

Ah, is that right? I've not heard that before. I saw folks moaning about it and it made me uncomfortable 'cos I've got 4 x 3TB, heh. Seagate should make their blurb clearer. The NAS actually manages to power them down properly now though.

There is a small print caveat which states you can expect an MBTF of 0.75million years as long as the drive operates at no more than 25C over that and lifetime drops

Ive had the drive in my PC for 4yrs now and no issues with it running 15hours a day on average for 5 days a week so id image even if i get 10yrs out of the drive it would be enough.
