How do these pen and paper rpgs work then? Curious about having a go at one, not quite sure where to get any rules etc from. Any links etc would be most helpful.

The way I got into it (and made a bunch of mates) was look up a local club and just turned up and asked if I could join in, within short order I had gotten hold of some of the rule books myself and was on the road to being a full time geek :)

And dont feel you just have to go for the more heard of games like D&D or even the olde worlde sort, there are plenty of flexible and enjoyable systems out there like GURPS and CP2020, maybe if you tell us the sort of thing you would like to play at we can be a little more specific?

And there is also the totally stupid one's like "Toons". Another place to maybe start is walking in a local hobbyist store, they will be more than willing to help and help with any other local gamers you could meet, and if you are into the models on a board type game-play there are usually people playing there or the staff MORE than happy to have a game of something and show you the ropes.

In our local hobbyist (or geek) store at the weekends you often have to punt small children out the way so you can get to what you want or too the counter to pay for something.

The one pnp I've never played and always wanted too was the Bab 5 one, we'd tried so many things and just dropped back into D&D and Vampire before I could convince everyone to try out Bab 5
