Pool of Radiance

Just bought the computer game, Pool of Radiance : Ruins of Myth Drannor, and am pretty happy with it.

Similar interface to Baldur's Gate, turn based, and all 3rd Edition ('cept for Clerics casting what they want when they want) but overall I'm happy with the way the game's balanced and plays out.

Only just started it in Single Player, but what 'bout Multiplayer? Anyone wanting to start a game and play through online from level 1 to the end? My 'puter's too ancient to host a game, but I'd be eager to play an online adventure. Anyone else?

Yes

I have the very same game my shel, I agree with you that its a pretty good game. It does take a long time to clear out a single dungeon though eh. Is it possible to take our single player characters that we have got up to lvl# into multiplayer?

Id play occasionally but can only prolly commit to a once a week lark during the week after 8pm ...

Good game though. Got the US limited edition way back when

I'd be up for this. Mind you we were going to do a multiplayer BG2 at one point if I remember correctly.

Just bought this game. How bugged is it? Had to spend about 3 hours trawling the tech support forums just to be able to get it to a playable state. Needed patching twice, installer didn't work properly and I then had to downtune my system to get past some fairly serious glitches - turned colour down to 16 bit and reduced hardware acceleration because it didn't like my graphics card.
If you're bored and you want to see just how unfinished the game was on it's release try going Here and stand aghast at how much Ubisoft have cocked up what should have been an absolute goldmine.
On the plus side it does look fantastic (now I've finally got it to work).

Well we all got to gether for 2 hours worth of multiplayer Pools of Radiance this evening and managed nearly five whole minutes of actual gameplay!
Problems: Sheleph had to make about 20-30 attempts to connect to my host before getting in every single time. Another guy couldn't get in at all and poor old Sam kept dropping 2 minutes into each session. To be fair, that was probably due to dial-up not being able to hack it cos the guy with ADSL got straight through every time (although he dropped too at the end).
You can't join or rejoin a game in progress so if you drop, we either carry on without you or quit the game and go through all the palaver of reconnecting to the server (which for Shel took about 15 minutes each time).
The game itself played really well and we stormed through a few orcs and undead grunts but it's so frustrating having to completely stop and spend 20 minutes staring at a blue swirly screen while everyone else logs back in after only playing the damn game for five minutes.

Come back Black Isle all is forgiven.

The hugely frustrating bit is that, overall, it's a good game. The crunch is that it's almost unplayable as a multi-player, major major downer.

Happen with ADSL it'll be better . . . will look at that over next couple weeks.

Otherwise I guess it's back to Baldur's Gate I or II or waiting for Neverwinter Nights . . .

Even with a meaty pc and braodband, you will still have the same problems. I have a reasonably meaty pc and a cable modem and people were still finding it hard to connect. There's also the fundamental problem that the game is pretty broken and many, many bad design decisions/lazy coding conspire to make it a dull and frustratingly bad game.
