This just gives the football snipers something to bleat on about, 2 Years ago everyone was going on about Rugby was the new number one sport, because England had success, now it's cricket's turn. Ask a few people when England won the world cup most will answer 1966, not 2003. The Rugby World cup is forgotten by most people now, it was all about England having success not the sport itself that generated the interest as soon as the world cup was over most peoples interest stopped, same with cricket when the Ashes is thankfully over - even more so with Sky getting the rights for the next 10 years.
If you honestly think Cricket is going to be a bigger sport than Football in this country you are a deluded fool :p

PS �20 says Mike Ingham is over 50.

Right now its bigger than football. Of course it won't stay that way because to understand Cricket properly, you need a brain whereas you don't with Football.

but then again, you also need a brain to truly understand Rugby :/ so Ky does have a very valid point, either you understand the sport from watching it your whole life, or like myself you play it for years, see it evolve from the game you played to the game it is now..

You see a footballer interviewed, minimal (if any) brain cells. Rugby players and Cricket players are coherent and intelligent.

Yeah I must admit I do miss the chasimatic personalitys like Martin Johnson, Johnny Wilkinson & Mike (cheat) Atherton........
Also don't forget Englands best modern era Cricketer (or at least most popular) is a failed Footballer :p

Still if it makes you feel more intelligent have fun watching your county (LOL) cricket, while the rest of us watch the football season.

Get your facts right. Ian Botham chose Cricket over Football as he was better at it. He played for Scunthorpe FC for a laugh which got him into trouble with the TCCB at the time. I also think you'll find Andrew Flintoff somewhat eclipses Botham these days but you're too out of touch to realise that.

Anyway, I suggest you go and enjoy the charisma of Beckham, Gary Neville et al. Far more intelligent. ROFLOL. At least Martin Johnson and Wilko have actually achieved something the England football team won't - winning a World Cup and at least the Cricketers have appeared (although not won) in 3 World Cup finals. They're also capable of writing their own autobiographies, unlike Keane, Beckham et al. They're also not as stupid as Keane to say that they deliberately set out to maim a player. The twat.

I don't watch county cricket except Twenty20 coz its a fun slogfest (and has sell out crowds). Why bother? International Cricket is full time which is why we have a FULL TIME ENGLAND TEAM. Duh.

As I said, Football suits your brain (what there is of it). Try and think more clearly next time before piping up about sports and sportsman you know nothing about.

Comparing the Cricket/Rugby world cup to the Football one is alittle silly as there are far more competative international teams for Football. It's actually quite worrying to know we haven't won a cricket world cup considering to tiny amount of countries who play the game a professional level.

Oh and please get over your obession with calling me stupid :p

Martin Johnson's actually an extremely intelligent and articulate bloke. You just never see it on TV because he hates doing the media stuff so says as little as he can possibly get away with.
It annoys some media people because behind the scenes he's a total sport anorak statto and will happily gab away for ages.

So Ky Football is for the braindead masses and cricket is for the more intelligent person, unless your an Aussie where cricket is for the masses and football is the lesser sport. You would have thought that'd make the Aussie men more intelligent by your own standards rather than 'arrogant and abusive c*nts to the max'. So is it either you misunderstood Aussie men who clearly are way more intelligent or is your point complete garbage? Oh and Politicians are more intelligent than Cricketers which must make politics better than cricket? and *lord* archer has written lots of books.
