RB 1 instruments are crap. The RB2 set is really nice as is the GH:WT set. The third party RB2 instruments are awesome (Madcatz).

To be honest go with the game that has the set list you like better. I've used both sets of instruments and there's little to choose between them. RB2 has more songs I think and you can import all the RB1 tracks as well.

In Europe all you can buy is RB: Band in a Box (which is RB1 instruments), and that will be the case until they clear enough back stock, or you get RB: Beatles edition, which uses cutomized RB2 instruments. GH: WT are pretty much the same as RB2 instruments, but you can buy GH: WT now in Europe.

What I did was got GH: WT bundle, going to buy RB2 that supports GH: WT instruments, then going to rent RB1 so I can put the disc in and unlock all those tracks in RB2 for five quid (something like that). That way I've got all the music, good instruments and at a reasonable price, though I will be buying a madcatz guitar for the bass so I have a full band setup.

Whatever you do though do not buy the RB: Band in a Box set though, there crap as Req. says

P.S I got my GH: WT only last week for the PS3, really like the instruments, even if the drums seem crazy difficult compared to the guitar, even on easy level, so I'll be interested to see RB2 difficulty when I get that

As far as gameplay and music variety goes RB2 all the way.

GHWT is arse, as was GH3.

GH2 was godly and by far the best of the series so far (the GH series)

As far as instruments go, the best guitar ive used is the wireless from GH3 or GH:Aerosmith, drums the GHWT ones seem sturdier.. mics are pretty much of a muchness, i use the rock band one.

You need to play RB2 on expert tho for guitar, hard is incredibly slow.

Well you get GH:WT with that, give that a spin, if you don't like it or want a wider choice of music get RB2 (and rent out RB1 to get the extra songs cheap)

or... set fire to GHWT without taking the plastic wrapping off it and get Rock band 2 :D

actually its not awful, its just that the original team that did GH1 and GH2 and moved onto rockband do a much better job and making the note tracks feel like youre actually playing the song rather than randomly mashing buttons like you do on GH3/GHWT

Or e-bay the sealed copy of GH:WT and use the money to help pay for RB2.

What's the sudden CUK craze with burning everything ?

I can't do the drums. It's the pedal that's the problem, my leg just gives up after a minute or so :( I wish on easy they'd drop the pedal note (like they do on the guitar).

I've heard good things about whats coming on the GH front

GH Smash hits, for those of you who liked the original PS2 Guitar hero shizzle but want to play with the whole band

And rumour has it GHWT2 is being worked so you gan have for instance multiple drummers and has a few rather cool songs to play with also, so you've made the right choice imho :)

On the rock band front all that seems to be coming is the beatles......

Keep the pedal pressed down the whole time and just raise your foot a little when you're about to play a bass note. That way you won't hold your foot in mid-air all the time.

Saw GH:solo set for 50 in HMV today and nearly bought it, but am I right in thinking that the guitar with this set is the old one that won't work with Rock band if I fancied that too?

Cheers for the linky Gottaa.

Seems that the 360 guitar in GH works with all Rock Band games :)
Only prob is that I didn't notice if the box I saw was for GH: WT...I'm sure it just said solo...must look again as I'm tempted.

yeah the GH guitars work fine with RB, but not vice versa, RB guitar is a bit funny in GH3, and flat out refuses to work with GH2

Bottled out of buying GH:WT for 50, as I wasn't convinced it wouldn't be a 5 minute wonder.

However I did see that Toys R Us are selling the GH:WT Band Set for 100, which is a good price for anyone after the band set.

Catz

Catz is ebil *snigger*
Eldest son has both and they dont half make a clanking sound on the guitars!!

Ive been put off cos of a) his singing b) the clanking and c) the drums are crap.

I love some of the music but some are so old even I had to look them up!

If you join in it great fun, as a spectator sport you get clicking from the guitar, thudding from the drum and bad singing. As with all party games though just add beer and it's 7000 times better ;)

Do the singing part Catz, that's good fun - shame there aren't many female led songs, although as the game scores on pitch it's not a problem tackling any of the songs, it's just more fun trying to mimic the female singers. The guitar parts are quite fun as well, but play on easy or medium, the hard settings are really hard!!! I find the drums completely impossible on any setting, but part of the problem is my leg is to weak to stand upto more than a couple of minutes on the pedal!
