I back us to qualify and then, unless Erikkson drops either Gerrard or Lampard to the bench, us to go out early. We need a holding midfielder because otherwise it leaves the back four exposed, especially on the counter-attack a la Portugal in Euro 2004.

I'd be putting Michael Carrick in there to see how he goes. Why Sven didn't use him last night I don't know. Oh, yes I do - he's a moron with no clue. I'd like to see Sven just piss off back to Sweden and go and manage some other team.

Agree about Carrick; best English holding midfielder prospect. Neither Lampard or Gerrard can do that job. None of the midfield four SGE played can control the pace of the game. You just cant play four attacking midfielders in a flat four the way that donkey of a manager tries to, especially when its Cole-Gerrard-Lampard-Beckham all looking to add momentum and impetus.

The whole team had a shocker in the second half. They were pathetic. David James however surpassed even his own standards of being shit.

Personally I would have gone on record, as the manager, as saying if I EVER saw another performance like that, they wouldn't play for England again. The trouble is that too many players think their position is 100% safe so they just take friendly games as a joke. If I was one of the 5,000 travelling supporters I don't think I'd ever go to watch them again.
