Well amongst my 40k 'club' we've been discussing recently looking for another game for an occasional change. We'd like something small scale (around 10-20 models a side, acting individually rather than in squads. I guess a bit like necromunda... Can anyone suggest any we might like to take a look at?

Wings of war. Of all the 'casual' wargame like games ive played this one is superb. Simple to play (pick a plane from WW1 era) lay maneuver cards, if your in range take a damage card, apply special damage (if any) bang done.

Fantasy flight games produces. There are two version - WW1 (Famous aces, Watch your back and burning Drachens) with a number of supporting pewter aircraft (3 series approx 18 planes per series split between allies and the hun. Then the WW2 version = Dawn of war with spitfires and other craft of the era. Not as well supported in terms of actual pewter aircraft so you'd be more likely to use the plane cards rather than models.

We run it along side our usual 40K games and it goes down really well. You can have 2, 4, 6 , 10 a side and not loose much :)

Requiel

PVC Love God
Seconding Wings of War above.

Also try Warmachine/Hordes. Two separate but compatible systems. They have different rules but you can play battles between a Warmachine force and a Hordes one. Games take from 30m to 2 hours depending on size and familiarity with the rules, armies generally run to about 15 models but can go as low as 4 or 5. The starter battleforces include a quick play rules summary so you don't even need the rulebook to start and any extra figures you buy have a unit card with all the rules for them in the box.

Brutus

Hairier than thou
A really good one is also bloodbowl, if you all play it for the game within the rules its brilliant fun and runs for between 30 minutes to an hour per game, you can play leagues and such and its one of the living rules sets so it works.

That said I am also a very big fan of fantasy flight games, they really do think things through and test them properly, especially wings of war :)
