New Spiderman Trailer is now online here

Could this actually be real competition for Star Wars II ? (they both open in May).
The trailer looks stunning, has a nice comic book feel. Although I don't think they got the look of the Green Goblin quite right and Kirsten Dunst doesn't convince as the red haired Mary Jane.
But those are mere quibbles, this could be the GREAT comic book adaptation we have been waiting for :)

could it be real competition for Star Wars II.....No, for one reason and one reason alone.......it isnt Star Wars.

However I think Spiderman will be a big success, the character is up there with Batman and Superman, it has a bigger audience draw than the X men and will pull more people to the screen than many of the other summer films did.

Personally i dont mind the way that goblin is portrayed, but i agree Mary Jane shouldnt have been Kirsten.

One thing i'm curious about is how well Daredevil will go down ........................

got to agree with you there m8......Ben affleck is NOT a good choice for Daredevil.....

even worse is the choice for Kingpin, i forget his name (the REALLY big black chap from the Green Mile). i have nothing against someone black in the role (to be honest i'm pushed to think of anyone white who is BIG enough to fill the shoes of Kingpin), but it will create serious continuity issues should any other film use the Kingpin character (and that is a possibility as he is a major character in the marvel universe) and not cast a black man.

There could well be continuity problems with this, seeing as the Kingpin is oten also an antagonist for Spiderman...and they might want him to appear in some future Spiderman film...in which case they will need to keep the character black for that as well.

The strangest thing I heard about Daredevil during the casting phase was that while they were looking for an actress to play Elektra Natchios...who in the Marvel canon is the daughter of a Greek diplomat, they actually wanted Lucy Lui the asian actress to play the role.
Yeh not a bad actress (and quite babelicious to boot :) ) but she so clearly ISN'T Greek...and if you know anything about Elektra from the comics you will know she had to be Greek.
Apparently they decided to explain it by saying that the greek diplomat adopted an Asian baby....the way the minds of Hollywood execs work never ceases to amaze.

With the Benedictine monks.
Aunt May

Well the test for me in the film is who will play Aunt May????

Cerberus

You stupid boy
There's a bouncer

On the door at one of my locals who could fit the kingpin to perfection lol.

Altho he isn't as agile as the kingpin, I kinda imagine him being amazingly huge yet quick and fairly agile for his size.

I'm not having high hopes for spiderman, I think it will be a hit, but for the wrong reasons.

Not too keen on the goblins idea tho, would rather have the symbiot's stories in there instead.

Some interesting titdbits up at Dark Horizons about the forthcoming Spiderman movie taken from the first Spidey press conference :

"- Director Sam Raimi announced that he officially just signed on to direct the sequel only yesterday.

- Interesting news for "Evil Dead" fans. Raimi said he liked to do a fourth ED flick, and is keen to work with Bruce Campbell and Robert Tapert again. Also if he were to do it, he would do it again on a shoestring budget.

- Tobey Maguire trained six days a week for five months to prepare for the film. His exercies were a combination of yoga, gymnastics, martial arts, weight training and a lot of bike riding. He hasn't continued with it, opting for a doughnut diet these days.

- Suit wise Tobey was in the uniform during the closeups and non-action scenes, stuntment were used for jumping scenes up to a height of about 2-3 stories, higher or more elaborate stunts than that were done in CG

- Despite the first trailer being pulled due to September 11th, the Twin Towers will be in the picture in tribute - however they won't be used for any of the 'wow' action sequences, merely part of the background

- Willem Dafoe did practically all of his own stunts on the glider so when you see the Goblin moving around on it, when its not CG its Willem pretty much the whole time

- Why did Tobey, normally known for playing angst-ridden teens, take on an action hero who wins the girl and defeats the bad guy style role? He wanted to do something more like himself in real life (the gag got a laugh from the crowd).

- A group of paparazzi photographers staged a walkout during the start of the conference over not being allowed to photo the previous night's secret screening/function, causing a lot of confusion at first.

- They've pretty much used all the scenes they shot in the final cut so don't expect much in the way of deleted scenes.

- The DVD will contain an "unprecedented" number of extras including a TON of making of material shot by
a seperate film crew during the production, and a gag reel."

The most interesting info there was that Raimi would like to do another Evil Dead film.
ED3 finished on a cliffhanger basically so I'm dying (no pun intended) to see a new ED film.

There was the one which you saw at the cinema, depending on which country you either saw him take the required dose and end up back at the supermarket, OR in the alternate ending he took one too many drops and woke up 100 years later and New York was in ruins, i bought the special edition Video years ago, and it had the american AND the english endings in it

I saw a trailer to spiderman on a video rental and it looked over relient on Computer Graphics and the whole swinging though the city looked fake and unsettling like most CGI graphics.

In that case Spiderman will have to claim to be 'homosexual' soon after his movie comes out.......Well the tight spandex should give that away!

Saw Spiderman last night, having been dragged kicking and screaming by my family, and actually liked it. For once the special effects were kept under control and there was even a story. Toby McGuire is not the most expressive actor, but that's probably ok as Peter Parker.

And Kirsten Dunst? Ok acting, nice breast implants hunny.

Aunt May was great.
