Steam Issue

Your opinion is worthless....
On my PC had issues with Steam in the last few months, when i turn it on of an evening, it starts to download, it keeps kicking my connection, for instance yesterday trying to dl the freebie xcom from Gottaa, it kept kicking my connection.

I run my PC on wireless right next to the modem, i haven't tried using a cable yet, any reason steam would do this?

I've had it boot me off the network a few times when steam updates in the background. It also kicks voice chat and is really annoying and a couple of weeks ago my brothers machine completely blue screened on one update... It's rare but they need to sort it out.

I'd recommend that you just let it update for a bit (few mins) before you start playing. Also turning off check for updates on all the games you're not playing as it checks them all when steam starts.

I don't normally play anything while it's updating in all honesty, i let it just DL that's why it's frustrating because if i was playing it would make complete sence!

The only thing to check is you are not running the beta version which I found I was. It wasn't kicking my connection, but it did keep closing steam as it downloaded and updated itself. I think it was something like Steam > Settings and then unticking the beta box

On another note, if you get really frustrated with it, before you just rage un-install it make sure you backup all your games. Steam is really good at this and you can easily just restore them back onto steam when you're done or transfer your backed up games to another machine to use with your account.

I've done this with a few games (Not EA ones) on steam and it's really good as you don't have to download it again on the other machine. I'm not sure if it's bound to your account, but probably is to stop people copying their whole library and sharing it across the world.
