The Avengers.

Marvel'ous.

A great balance of character, light hearted humour when needed and jaw dropping action.
Extremely entertaining!

Been looking forward to this!

If you can I'd say watch the 2D version. I didn't have the choice and had to see the 3D version, I don't think it adds anything to the movie apart from the normal distractions 3D brings - makes everything darker and blurs on panning shots.

I like Thor, Captain America and The Ironman movies (and even the Ed Norton Hulk movie) but they felt like a starter compared to the main course that was the Avengers. It manages to be consistently fun without being 'leave your brain outside' dumb.

Yeah ditto with the other movies. Not so sure about the upcoming Spidey re-boot, they are changing a bit too much needlessly for my liking. Avengers 2 and Iron Man 3 definitely on the way, and apparently Samuel L Jackson was signed up to a 15 movie deal. If they stay true to the Comics the lineup should change every 5 minutes, and at one point there were 4 Avengers teams on the go! Would have liked to have seen Hank Pym as Ant-Man or Colossus and the Scarlet Witch and her brother Quicksilver, but only really because they were in there when I started to take notice of the comics. I was dead lucky when I was a kid, my uncle was a mad comics reader and passed them all on to me. He got all of the then current Marvel and most of the better DC comics and I got them second hand :)

The thing they manage to do well on this movie is balance the screentime between the various characters. Also the various skill sets/power levels are dealt with well, everyone gets a chance to shine.

Marvel allegedly wanted the Avengers to feature a fair few other characters such as Spiderman, Dr Doom, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver but couldn't because they sold the rights to other studios such as 20th Century Fox.

The Spiderman trailer attacted to The Avenger was very underwhelming, didn't like the free running/climbing computer game first person view bit at all.

On the other hand Prometheus and Dark Knight Rises looked very good.

Saw a bit of Prometheus and it just looked like a re-run of Aliens with Noomi Rapace running around doing a Ripley/Sigourny Weaver impersonation. She aint a bad actress, but was a bit underused in the not very good Sherlock Homes sequel. Be surprised if it isnt good though, Ridley Scott and all.

Saw this last friday and it was fantastic, great movie, like Janie mentioned good balance all round.
Was nice to see Hulk have at least some sort of personality and give a few chuckles as well.
Obviously those who waited at the end to see *you know who* after the initial credits will at least be licking their lips in the prospect of a sequel.

But as per usual I had a pair of dumb bitches who thought it was cool to use their mobiles for SMS's and lighting up the dark room.

Really looking forward to seeing this, but as with all new releases now I'm waiting till they come to Sky Movies. The "cinema experience" now appears to be sticky tatty chairs, food which the price suggest comes from the moon and yet tastes of garbage, 3d fad means less times to pick from, and worst of all noisy as *&%$ people who are happy to chat and take calls while the film is playing. For the price of Talili and I going to the cinema and getting some snacks there we could rent it in HD, get a bottle of wine and make a damn nice lamb curry with lamb from the local butcher and all the veg from the farm shop.

My god I'm sounding old !!!!! :D

Hasn't that always been the cinema experience? (well apart from mobiles). I love it! I find as soon as the film starts I get engrossed and the distractions fade away!

You can't beat Joss Whedon for on the ball witty dialogue and writing. It made the movie more than the effects, especially the bit where the hulk sideswipes Thor, Classic!
