Turn 23 - Clearing the lair...then onwards

Bamoin carefully searches around the final area. A longish search reveals, hidden under a rock a stash of goodies: several gold pieces, silver pieces, A gold cup, a picture frame, 3 gold and silver necklaces and a gold ring with a pearl inlaid.

Arak quickly casts detect magic over the rings and necklaces then groans when nothing shows as magical. Shruging he lets the rogue stash the goods into his pack

The carved rocks appear to be just that - carved rocks. Perhaps the umberhulks you killed were art lovers. It is hard to know for certain.

With little else to do here you carefully trace your steps back to the long east/west passageway and continue westwards.

After another 10 mins or so he tunnel widens into a cavern here. Loose stones and dirt cover the floor. Burrowed passages lead to the west, south, and east. This cavern is about three quarters of a mile from where the meandering passage started in the
manor house�s cellar. A leather bag meant for a large creature to bear lies on the floor next to a few scattered digging tools. None of the tools appears to have been used.

As you approach with care behind you - somewhere to the east down the long passage comes drifting the sound of singing...

Belwar tries to listen in to the singing, to try to discern the nature of the song and perhaps even what race might be singing it.

(ooc: Any chance for a primitive map of the *whole* currently explored cavern complex? It'd be more interesting to follow the roleplaying game if I knew where we are and where we are going, not to mention where we've been... Prolly quite useless, but I don't think it should be too difficult, aye? Make it Sticky? Edit: I meant a map that you'd keep updating as we go forward.)

Siggni (Never a great art lover if it dont have axes, blood or pillaging in it) waits patiently for the scouts to find her something to hit, drink or cram, chinking in to her backpack

the singing appears to be human. And reminds you oddly of Caligula whens hes got a skin full. You double check the Cleric is not missing. Hes not - hes leaning nonchalantly against a wall looking bored.

Belwar moves somewhat carelessly to the leather bag, and looks inside without much curiosity at all... Before actually opening it though, he sniffs at it, trying to discern if there's some (any) smell of animal, blood or smth else like it. If there is some odd smell like that, he'll leave it be.

The human is about 6'7" tall wearing once white tunic however now stained with with ale and vomit, a tattered pair of loose fitting pants that most orcs would throw away, and a pair of flimsy sandles. He appears to swagger and stumble coming your way the giggle at himself hiccup a few times and break into his song while swilling even more ale out of an oversized mug he carries.

"...."Gimme a flagon, a barrel, a wagon,
Oh gimme a flask or a pot or a pail,
And do not stop pouring the while I�m adoring,
Yes, gimme a drink of your cheapest Ale!

Let there be a table, as broad as is able,
And set down a stool, a stump or a chair,
And if there be beer nuts, then heap them in waterbutts,
Oh innkeep, I�m ready t� let down my hair!

A drinker who�s boozy should not be too choosy,
So bring on the leeswine and beer without fail,
Oh barlass, keep filling the glasses I�m swilling,
And pour me some more of that your cheapest Ale!"

All of this singing is interrupted about mid ways thru by hiccuping and giggling.

"Hey, *hic *hic, (slurd) where's the party. or are all you twins here to try to take me ale. Don't take me ale *hic , or my pet elephant Sparky here will have to get ya."
As he says this he is petting empty air and mumbling that for the life of him he can't remember when Sparky turned pink.

None shallantly he reaches into his backpack and grabs a few mugs and fills them up from his mug and staggers over toward you thrusting a brimmimg mug of the foulest smelling ale you have ever smelled into your hands. This ale smells pretty bad it must have sit out in the sun for a few hours and spoiled you think..


"Never drink alone, *hic *hic thats what Master Lo said anyway. But when you drink your never alone..." He turns his mug up and drains it as the ale dribbles out the side of his mouth and onto his clothing.
"By the way, also never drink with strangers. Larson Vega (Slurd badly) at you acquatence. *hic *hic" and me pet now with wings pet elephant Sparky" Waving his hand in empty air beside him.....

QUAFF! (carefully spilling a little on to her already foulsmelling furs)

"Hurgh! tastes like Gnoll piss!"

She gleefully thrusts out her mug for a little more.

Dee turns to belwar and says in gnomish

"And these humans, say we are an odd sort ?"

His staff by his side Dee bows and declines the drink, "Never a touch shall pass my lips, but is a kind offer"

Belwar simply smirks back at Del and nods his approval...

He looks with disgust at at the ale and backs away a bit...

(ooc: I'll not be checking the forums much at all between tomorrow and next weeks wednesday, so don't expect me to be active during easter...)

Bamoin scratches his head in bewilderment , looks at the man and at the offered ale ,shrugs and then heads out to scout ahead......

Larson stares into his empty flagon and says,
"Saucy wench of smelly ale,
Filler' up with any fail."

His mug refills with more of the foul smelling ale and he starts chugging it down. [ ooc: Moving Strength stat up ]

He visibly shakes himself and starts following behind Bamion.. You notice his foot falls are much quieter and he blends into the shadows a bit.

The bag smells of meat. Some odd meat, foul smelling.

Inside are several tools, lots of meat wrapped in greasy cloth and a note.

with a slight glance of disgust towards the drunkard, Jial moves to take a look at the bag, and see if he knows what type of animal the meat belonged to.

The meat is still fairly indeterminate. It might be bear or deer or it might be something worse......

The note reads:

Once you get inside the unsealed portion of the Banewarrens, you will have to find a massive iron door. This is a warded door. It may be trapped, we do not know. It is, however, sealed beyond your capacity to breach. Therefore, you will use a wish from the ring to open it�and even that will keep it open only for a moment.On what lies beyond that door, our spells are silent, except that you will find the Grail within Tremoc Korin. The last wish will be your key to get out.

The bag also contains a lamp, two flasks of oil, two flasks of acid, and a very large waterskin.

The bag is twice the size of your typical packs.

Does Bamoin explore Southerly or westerly?

Belwar looks over the two flasks of acid, and checks them. "These might come in handy..." He stuffs them away into his backpack (assuming no-one complains).

"Judging from the note we can assume that we're following a trail into the unsealed part of the Banewarrens. How close we already are, I don't know. But as all this has been left here I'd guess we're pretty close already..."

Bamoin goes to both tunnel entrances and checks for recent travel down them , if the bag is that large we're looking for large tracks ....hopefully ....

Arak grunts: "I've heard of the powerful magics that constitute a wish spell. The words must be carefully phrased lest the djinni misrepresent our desires. However, if we DO have access to two casts of this magic, do we definitely just want to use them on entering and then returning from the Banewarrens?"
