Turn 28 - Death of a Gem

Zed

Rogue Chimp
As a group you move back to the 2nd (or middle) part of the chamber you are in. Then Belwar steers the flaming sphere into the pedastal and rolls it over the gem.

You watch as the gem pulses brightly again then seems to explode in a number of fragments. Over by the far corner of the room the wraith seems to wail once more and fades as the gem explodes. Belwar cancels the spell plunging the place into near darkness...

Arak will cast light [ooc, don't know if I have this or not, but I thought I might be able to cast something similar in the form of a cantrip, although it's not mentioned on my 0-level spells list...I don't know what level of spell light counts as - other thing was notice that I've got "Summon Familiar" further up, but that I don't have one, so was wondering if I could do something about that too :) ]

(ooc: Summon Familiar is a fairly complicated spell. Don't think you'll be casting it just like that here... perhaps later on a safe place?)

Belwar wonders if cancling the spell was such a good idea, but he shrugs as he can see pretty well here anyway... He walks into the room, and starts searching for anything interesting....

Dee examines his feet for any marks or burns from the floor, he will then follow Belwar back into the room using his stick to poke at the floor a few times first.

"This would be a good place to rest up, I doubt anything around here would be stupid enough to come in this room knowing what's in here"

Thak will protect the Gnomes as they look about, Being wary of everything.

"Good thinking little one" Thak grins as he slaps Dee in the back in a strong Half-orc way. :)

Siggi searches her pack for some goose grease to apply to any overtly burned bits:
"If ve's going to rest here, ve need to decide who will take the watches and for how long? I dont mind taking first watch"

Stage whisper to Thak:
"Nothink EVER happens on first watch!"

A casual glance at the gem will show, although its shattered into hundreds of pieces they are wiggling, moving and slowly reforming on the pedastal...

Are you SURE you want to rest here?

The damn thing is reforming again - better ready another magic missle :p. Seriously though, perhaps we should either scatter these pieces around or think of some other way of breaking this bloody gem. Not convinced that touching them is a good idea though - anyone have a telekinesis spell? Failing that, try prodding one with your great sword Thak...shouldn't do it any damage since it's magical.

"What about the god's?" Thak say's jabbing his thumb towards Caligula.

If the magic is inaffective, Thak will try and destroy the fragments with his sword and brute strength. But not untill he has drank a poition of healing(if he has one).

"You're going to 'it it again ?"

Dee gets clear of the room, making sure he is a safe distance from the floor around the pedestal.

"Thing is if we don't hit it, it don't do anything, so nuffin' stops us resting up hear as long as we stick with the old Gnomish saying 'Irtak Nanr Furdin Oiwayn' which roughly translates to 'If it 'urts when you poke it, stop poking it'"

Belwar pokes a piece with his toe. I.e. merely touch it a little. If nothing happens, he'll try to pick it up very discreetly and place it in his pocket... :D

Arak scowls at Belwar. "That gem is not something to be messed with. The magic that created it was used for evil purposes; we should either destroy it, or leave it well alone - I'm certainly not comfortable with you carrying around something like that after the sensation I received from my casting." Arak will then examine the runes, and cast any appropriate spell that might be used to decipher them (assuming he hasn't done so already).

Belwar flips the gem piece into a corner and pouts at Arak and mimics with an quite irritating voice... "Yes master, yes, exactly as you wish, O' spoiler o' fun..." Once Arak's turned to examine the markings Belwar sneaks behind him, and makes a lot of odd-looking (except to Del) gestures and expressions behind Arak... :cock:
