Turn 30 - A Strange metal device

Bamoin leads you westwards down a sloping passage 30ft wide and into a chamber This large chamber has two levels. At the bottom, a huge
metal device like an iron tower topped with a brass sphere rises at least 30 feet high. Around this strange sphere, an iron catwalk made of a rosshatched grating follows the wall, forming the upper level about 25 feet above the
lower. An iron spiral staircase in the southwest corner of the room joins the two levels. The central tower is a cylinder with a 10-foot diameter. A number of jointed metallic extensions, like the legs of an insect, extend from the tower and connect to the ground or simply jut out into the air at all angles. The top sphere looks about 15 feet across: half the structure�s total height.
A series of curved plates comprising its brass skin fit together carefully, each bearing a single arcane rune etched into its surface. A few bear images of brass dragons. Here and there on the sphere, a curved plate is missing,
exposing an inner gridlike support network of metal bars. The missing plates give the impression that the metallic thing�whatever it is�is either damaged or unfinished. The floor level has only one apparent exit, a 30-footwide
passage to the east. The upper level has five exits, two 10-foot-wide archways leading to the north, two to the south, and one massive metal door to the west.

However the noise comes from the walkway above. Bamoin spots shodowy movement from above just as arrows hurl down from the balcony above into the midst of the group. You can make out 6 small shapes above you and 2 large shapes over near the large doorway, one of which suddenly splits into 4 more figures.

Actions? The monsters marked G are above you all

[No suprise round, all flat footed. I think with the departure of Siggni everyone pretty much has Low light vision of one sort or another. However ill assume that Thak oft carries a torch in his off hand which is put down for battle]

Ohhh anyways.. Gleaming with a rough moist woodlike form on his skin (barkskin, muahahaaa... :p), Belwar starts casting a spell defensively (Summon Nature's Ally III, Dire Wolf, designated to appear beside G4. on the eastmost side... Remember the Trip ability!)...

(ooc: Btw, the L1 and M1 group. They're also on the upper floor right? At least I assume so, as the metal door is on the upper floor and they were near the large doorway... Before I know for sure, I wouldn't want to try and direct our little bunch here to any kind of coordinated offense. Either way, we've got two main choices, stay and fight, or run away. I prefer fighting, so I started casting my little spell... :D Anyway, if we run off, our strength will most probably dwindle, but then again we can maybe rest somewhere. But that'd be pointless anyway.)

I suppose we came through the 30-footwide passage. So according to the text you wrote, the metal door to the west is on the upper level. I assume that it's on the same level as we are though.)

[OOC well that goes and blows it doesnt it. I ran this wrong the first time i played through this module. Okay M1 and L1 should be above you on the walkway. The only way up - apart from being able to fly is to leg it up the stairwell

And I havent forgotten the calcs n stuff. need to get my books out and take a good look. Probably over the weekend]

(ooc: Either we part up into two groups, one casting spells and using long range offensive/defensive manouvers, and the other charging forward to try to take the stairs. Btw, how many can climb the stairs at once? Is it possible to get up without having to actually fight past say, more than one opponent? I.e. can we storm the balcony? Otherwise, I can't see much other optons here. We'll be sitting ducks for arrows otherwise, and we can't have any soloing out there. So either we go as two groups, or back out as a whole. That's my five pence though. Personally I think that we boost up our abilities with spells asap and get our fighters out there (with preferably at least Bull's Str cast on them!) Caligula should definitely cast Prayer immediately btw, while we're still in a bunch not too far apart from each other... Is Piper active anymore, for that matter? What can we discern of our foes, for that matter, other than the impression of 'dark figures with bows'?)

Thak Shouts above the melee, "Death or Glory!!" And knocks back a barkskin potion (if he has one) And rushes up the stairs between bow shots and hopes he can cut the distance before they have a chance to nock another arrow, swinging Gutter in a low arc he trys to cleave the first foe in two before moving onto the second one. (OOC: Moving towards G4 first Zed mate.)

Jial crouches down and fires 2 arrows at the enemy thak seems most likely to be attacking. (ooc: not sure of the time gap between arrows, but if it looks like my first one has no effect, i'd like my second to be a +1 arrow. if theres no time for me to make the distinction, i'll fire a normal then a +1 anyway.)

(edit: ooc: just realised i dont have +1's, should of bought some in town. not to worry, too late for htat now. a silvered arrow instead please :)
Also, theres no mention of a sword or anything on my sheet.... should i assume i have a standard longsword or something? and i guess since i'm a bow ranger i dont have all the dual weild skills?)

Dee will in general be following Thank and Bamoin, once at the top of the stairs he will go in the other direction to Thak first hurling his staff when atop the stairs before closing in to mellee range

The start thing: Is the strange metal sperical thing with dragons on metal plates and spidery legs protruding from it. There are part missing here nad there.

Staircase is a 5ft spiral thing far side of the room. A nhimble person could attempt to climb up the sphere and jump onto the walkway amidst the smaller shapes.

The enemy:

Dee / Belwar will instictively know the small archers are goblins. A natural enemy.

The bigger figures...Too far away.

Guess it'll be everybody able enough going for the spiral stairway on the far side of the room...)

Hearing that they are only goblins, Jial decides NOT to use any special stuff on them, but instead just fires a pair of normal arows into one that noone else is fighting (actually, can i fire 3 arrows, since we were standing around here before we were attacked?)

If the climbing and jumping option would seem faster to Dee he will try that, throwing his staff before attempting the feat, he will aim to land amongst the goblins to stop them firing there bows.

While climbing Dee will try and disern what these two other figures are
