Turn 38 - Metal Monsters and sickly green pedastals

Aceed checks the door for traps, finding none he pushes it open.

Beyond the door is a 30ft by 30ft room lit by a very low pale green glow. A passageway leads eastwards. However Aceed is startled by the metallic clang as a huge stature lurches at incredible speed towards him.

Before he can react the creature barrels into the halfling swinging him with an iron backhand. The blow connects sending Aceed to the east some 20ft and leaving him in a heap. [Aceed take 22 points of damage] Then the creature explodes, disintegrating and sending a puddle of goo seeping from its exposed innards, it pools around the heap of metal.

[OOC Ouch. Aceed just couldnt dodge it quick enough.]

Actions....... Only Aceed is in the room (albiet a little bit injured, Bamoin is next nearest just the other side of the door)

Thak will push past Bamion because the need for stealth has past and survey the room.

(OOC: I will try and get to Aceed and drag him out to safety if possible, but only after Bamion has had a look for traps etc. Not going near the green gunk. )

Gutter in hand and alert Thak readies himself for other metal guardians. On your toes friends, Can you sense for Magic brother? He addresses Arak.

am I unconsious ? [/ooc how many hp's do I have anyway?]

If i'm under 5hp's I'm playing dead.

if there are more of these statuet things, but not moving I'll stay put and evaluate what may have happened and visually look for clues (whilst not moving around much). [/ooc I'm guessing I missed the fact that there was a trap there and I didn't notice it]

If possible I'll give warning to our other thief using 'thief's cant' (sign language ish) to stop them bumbeling into the room and triggering more of these things rather than shouting at them. If they are silly enough to come charging in then I'll shout warnings about entering the room to the others and recount the story, emphasizing not to come into the room until we know it's safe.

If there are more and I'm in danger I'll play dead.

(ooc: Do we see any other hostiles in the immediate area? Does the puddle look hazardous, i.e. acid or something? Where does the glow come from? A huge creature, as in 'huge'-sizeclass? Not enough info to do anything much really...)

Belwar growls loudly, and howls oddly a couple of times (ooc: Barkskin upon myself), and darts into the room, going westwards to 'secure the corner'. :p

Drawing his greatsword and preparing to defend himself from any further metalic monsters as yet unseen, Risach works his way round the room to Aceed.

Whilst doing this i'lm keeping a clsoe eye on the remaining goo, ready to grab Aceed and retreat out of the room if there is any more "animated statue" nonsese.

[note, ooc as i've got a 3vil cold and can't think properly]

Dee tries to muscle nearer the front of the group so he can work out what on earth happened which mumbling something about nothing being behind the door anyway.

The room is silent apart from the snuffling of Belwar, the footsteps of the Plated Risach and the light groans from Aceed.

The puddle of liquid just seems to sit there doing little. But it came from the statue so you might surmise its hazardous. There are no other hostiles in the room.

The green glow comes from a pedastal that the iron statue was stood in front of. There is a door in the further southern wall.

Aceed is still alive though down to 15 hps out of a total of 37. If it was a trap you cant see how you would have missed it. Maybe it was more than a trap?

Belwar sniffs the air, and carefully stalks over to the pedestal. He then examines it closely, listens for any sound emanating from it (or anywhere else, for that matter). Then he yaps a few times and wiggles his tail and peers intently at the pedestal for 18 seconds (ooc: Detect Magic, as per the spell I want to know everything possible. :D), and then rinse and repeat (i.e. peer 3 rounds) at the puddle.

Thak still alert will stand near the southern door after it has been inspected for traps by Bamion, ready for a visit from nasties. "Lie still Aceed, t'was a mighty bow you took" Thak grin's at the halfling with respect. "Where is that spirit soaked healer?" he grumbles.

Aceed waves at a wizard to do some of that strange magik stuff. Then looks at our cleric and groans a lot like he just remembered he was injured.

Bamoin moves forward to check around the pedastal (without touching it) and the surrounding area for traps . then he moves to the southern door and checks it , is there a key hole to look through ? or can I see under the door ?

The pedastal appears free from traps. The green sickly glow comes from a ring which is laid on the the top of the pedastal. A large green gem adorns the top of the ring. No other markings exist on the pedastal.

The southern door however reminds you of the blue glowing door you left behid in the generator room. This door is sealed, etched with silver runes and tracery, some of which glows pale blue. It is metal in composition. Probably steel by the looks of things which makes it a fairly strong door to break down. It also reminds you a little of the door which was open, that led to the wraith and the gem.

Dee examines the floor around the pedestal closely, the wraith room had some holes in the floor and they are what he is specifically looking for. If anyone tried to pick up the gem Dee will explain what he is doing and if they continue to reach for the gem he'll get out the room as quickly as he can, his feet are still tingling from a few days ago.

Detect magic: the pedastal itself does not appear to be magic, however the ring on the pedastal Glows with a multitude of Colours (Universal) then as you concetrate you also detect faint traces of trasmutation and necromancy.

The door behind you (to the south) glows with Abjuration (strong abjuration) and the remains with Evocation.

(ooc: the pedestals the same as the other one then, right? lovely.... or was it the thing on the pedestal that glowed before? hmm... i cant remember :p)
Jial stays where he is, waiting for status updates from the rest of the team, while he guards the rear.
