Turn 39 [Area 11] The pit of Doom?

You all pretend not to watch as Aceed craftily picks up the ring and places it into a belt pouch. Caligula mutters a prayer as he places his hands on Aceed and heals him of some of the damage [21 damage healed]. Aceed then leads you all eastwards.

After 20ft very quickly you can see what appears to be a 20-foot-square pit. Four thick, rust-covered iron chains hang down into the pit. They are attached to the walls on either side with heavy bolts.

The door in the north wall you surmise leads back to the gantry above the generator room. Your torch light vaguely shows a door on the other side of the pit in the east wall.

Actions?

(ooc: Check out the map everyone, to get a better idea of how the place looks like.)

Belwar first studies the walls for a while, and then peers down towards the bottom of the pit, trying to discern if there's actually something down there...

(ooc: Can we climb down those chains? Why couldn't we enter through Door number 7? Could we take another route via area 3 southwards?)

As Belwar move to peer over the side of the pit a huge Cloud Giant begins to crest the lip of the pit and advances towards the group.

Get sniffing doggy !!!

Can we hear any noise ?

After listening can we decern if the chains would hold the weight of a small halfling. [/ooc I would imagine this would make some noise so sort of the last thing we would do].

Can I make out anything over the pit, is it small enough to jump across ?

[/ooc did I get my rope and sap ? tempting to tie it around my waist and climb down the chains if necessary. I think there may be another level down though so maybe we should look for some stairs.]

Any trap ish things around, items of interest, big don't go down the hole type messages etc?

[/ooc I think fighting a cloud giant in this tight space is silly so lets fall back (pronto) I'm getting back to the golom room asap, you guys can think about it if you want ]

Aceed squeezes past everyone and finds a shadow to hide in in the golom room.

Dee will take his example from Thak (assuming he does something),
1) If Thak attacks Dee will try and roll past the cloud and attack it from behind.
2) If Thak backs away, so will Dee
-or-
If Thak doesn't do anything Dee will hurl his stick at the cloud, if it connects with the cloud Dee with attack, otherwise he'll back away.

NB: If they do decide to back away Dee with use Dancing Lights and Ghost sound to the south of the cloud giant to try and distract him and allow the group more time for retreat.

Caligula smiles with glee at the oncoming giant and, poking the fighters in the party towards the beast mutters "at last, something that's going to waken you slovenly lot up"...

 

[Chick]

IF the rest of the group choses too, i shall drop back with aceed into teh golem room, sugesting the rest of the party does similarly, ready to take the Cloud Giant on as it comes down the narrow corridor. If you insist on standing and figting, then Risach will peel round to near the north west east door and lay into the beast.

hearing the comments from the rest of the party, Jial looks behind him. "Lets take it down boys" jial says, a slight grin on his face. with that he looses a wave of arrows at the giant (ooc: cant remember how many my max was, but i'll fire basically all i can this turn )
(another ooc... dont all rangers have a favored enemy or whatever? i cant see one on my description... not that i'd really expect it to be giants, but would like to know what it is )

Seing Jial send a stream of arrows towards the Giant Thak Curses.

He bounds forward and scoops up and throws Belwar behind him, hoping that Aceeds idea has been followed by the group.

He will try and slow down the giants progress by using defensive moves and try not to get too hurt!!.

"Brother" he shouts "Your sticky web spell and some strength for me would be helpful" he flash's a quick grin, "i wish Siggni was here to see this!!!"

(OOC: i will try and hold him back best i can until the others back into the golem room and there i shall unlesh my full fury and use a rage if poss mate. )

(ooc: ahh bollox, i always forget i have spells! couldve entagled the bugger.well, i'll try nd get it stuck at the doorway instead. incidently, i'm not intending to stand and fight - this is just to piss the thing off )

Bamoin moves back witht he others to the GOlum room , then positions himself inside the entrance with a view at ambushing the giant if it makes it through .

Surprised by Thak's grapple maneuver, Belwar growls fiercely and bites Thak playfully, but still inflicting pain in the process as in a warning not to do so ever again, lest he might suffer the consequences. Once Belwar's stabilized on the ground again, he growls and yaps at Thak and wiggles his tail, and then bites playfully at his leg. (ooc: Might of the Oak on Thak (+4 str, -2 dex, duration: 10 minutes/level))

(ooc: Stinking cloud? Sheesh, do you want us all to fall unconscious before this giant? Surely it'll manage to breathe in the cloud, but I'm not as sure of the rest of us has even half the potential that that cloud giant has..)
